Another crack at Sirius B with the Tak FC100 tonight I hope. Determined to get the Pup with my smallest aperture scope

That sure is a pretty scope to look at, even better to look through, I bet. Good luck with the pup tonight!

  2. All these beautiful images posted make me want to invest in an EQ6 and a DSO imaging cam of some sort once I know what scope will be my main imaging scope. My question is, would I be getting in deep using my 102 straight away considering what adapters and such cost for this scope or, should I look at an 80mm triplet instead? which will no doubt be easier to balance, accessorize etc.  Something tells me I should definitely not start with my 102, I saw what a reducer costs and just about fell over.

Here’s a pic of the ADM tak dovetail bar which shows the hole spacing. M8 bolts.

Thanks, now this looks like it is the Ideal, however, is it a dovetail which will fit my Vixen GP? It seems wider than a vixen dovetail and, does this mean my ADM cannot be mounted on a Tak clamshell?

  4. I have a 7” ADM dovetail on my 102 at the moment but, I am ordering the clamshell. Would the clamshell bolt to the ADM easily? the ADM has a channel half the length of the bar which countersinks mounting bolts, I would assume that the clamshell has two bolt holes which would have to be set into the channel as other holes would not line up correct? any others with same setup out there?

Thanks for all the feedback folks.

Frankly, these are the best lunar views I've ever had :thumbright:

The seeing is still steady and the misty clouds have thinned a lot so very high magnifications are bearing fruit again. 795x on Gassendi - I've never seen so much detail

This is a LRO image but what I'm seeing is very similar even at that magnification:

Having a good look at a number of lunar domes as well. A feature that I have not paid a lot of attention too in the past but once you realise that they are quite subtle features, there are plenty of nice ones to find around the Mare Insularum. Some have nice little (well, 2km diameter) central pits as well.

This is a beautifully detailed image, I wish I was there to see too! it's not every day that conditions are as good as you describe.

Waiting for a clear patch I can tantalisingly see headed in from the Irish Sea...

The 102ED fully loaded with both an rdf and 9x50 raci finder... plus the Altair 24mm UFF which jinked the weather the day it arrived a couple of weeks ago!

    That's a nice looking scope!
