I don't know why but I've not paid any attention to this thread, a wonderful collection of images that really push the boundaries of what the equipment can do, amazing

I loved 2000AD, my absolute favourite series being Nikolai Dante.

Drat, I meant sectioned, not sanctioned. However, as you claim the rank of Master Imager, you are immune from the latter, but take note, you are being scrutinised. Now, I must get back to Film four, I'm watching Prometheus, and it is good.
Oh dear, I'm not sure either is good frankly, although I think the former should have happened years ago. I'm making claims that I don't think I'll be able to support quite frankly so scrutinise away my friend.
Enjoy Prometheus, it is good.

I call for sanctions against this man.
I've never been sanctioned before and I don't propose to start now. Can't help being a master imager can I!

Didn't say he had to be in a field, just not my field

I regularly process on my phone Dave, it a piece of cake, even with my sausage fingers! Having an iPhone 6 Plus helps!
John, thank you for your entry. We have had a little lean spell recently, but I have no question in announcing you as the winner of StuPOD for the day! Congratulations, excellent shots, and exactly what StuPOD should be about
EDIT I've not tried the video technique myself, will have to give that a try!
Thank you Stu and give it a try it takes a bit longer but it's less hit and miss.

Sorry John, I can't imagine trying to process on a phone, you deserve a prize just for that, it drives me bonkers just trying to post on here with it
Dave
It is a pain Dave isn't it.

Sorry John but you'll have to be disqualified as the rules say only processing allowed is on the phone, nice pic's though
Dave
Why you dirty rat trying to get me disqualified . Any expert in the field of smartphone imaging will tell you PS Express is a Phone app. You clearly don't belong in this field

Here's a serious entry. 130mm reflector, 8mm Hyperion EP, 2.5x Revelation Barlow, iPhone 6s handheld with no adapter or anything fancy like that. Sharpened, noise reduction and contrast/shadows/highlights in PS Express on said iPhone. Quite pleased with these.
The thing to do is set it recording 4k video at 30fps, find your position and try to hold it as long as possible to get some good frames. Then scrub through the video looking for the best frame, take a screenshot of that and process the screenshot in PS Express. I might upload to the lappy and try to process the vids in AS!2 for giggles.

I admit it, the only involvement of a scope was as a balancing aid (but the Mesu wasn't actually moving - that was the whole point )
I didn't realise there was a scope on the mount at the time. I might reconsider my opinion. As long as I win the next award. ?
-
Far too many posts here flouting the judge's rigorous rules if you ask me. 'specially the one with the Mesu, completely out of order.
To quote our right (dis)honourable judge "The rules are clear, and stated in this thread. Smartphone images taken through a scope is the simplest I can make it."
Surely, disqualification should be considered, leaving the field clear for genuine masterpieces, taken through a scope, like mine.
And obviously by pointing out this flagrant disregard for the rules I've earned extra brownie points.
Some may consider my post self serving and mean spirited.
I would agree completely

Excellent Jules, I'm so pleased for you mate, once your cloud penalty is over I'm sure the clouds will part and you'll have a lifetime of clear skies with your new best friend. I knew you'd do it. Had no doubts whatsoever
My turn next. If someone could have a word with The Present Mrs Foster.....

It will endear him to the nominee though ?

How did you go Wolflady?
I was out looking at Venus earlier this evening too and being about 50 something % illuminated it's approx a half disk. I was well focused and atmospheric conditions (seeing) were good so I also saw some slight variations in the shade of grey which is about all you'll see of Venus with the thick atmosphere and all.
We're all looking forward to reading your first observing report

Well deserved Stuphonepod winner John, you could also submit it to a UFO forum as pairs of lights in the sky must be UFOs
Merry Christmas

I think you're right Dave it is unidentifiable. ?

It will be a long while before you attain the high levels of competence to use the technique but if it helps I'm putting together a series of instructional videos. Its the least I can do for the community which has helped me to achieve greatness..
I'll have them done in about 2036. ?

Lovely image John, I do like the background, reminds me of an old tweed jacket
Thank you so much Alan, that really means a lot. If you're looking to replicate the OTJ palette (as I'm sure you and many others are) it's done with the Harris filter in PS Express

I give you a masterpiece, one of the finest examples of the form you will see this side of Christmas. M42 captured on iPhone through the f10 frac and a 25mm EP.
Note that in spite of heavy light pollution this is still an APOD quality image
In light of this I'm now going to stop saving for a premium mount it's clearly just not necessary.

Carboot scope!
in Discussions - Scopes / Whole setups

That's a great find John, I'm very envious I always have an eye out at the car boot for scopes 'n' bins but to date I've found nothing.
A friend of the family found a Tal-1 recently which he gave to our niece and I get views with that so I mustn't complain really.
Good luck cleaning her up.
