  1. This is my first attempt at DSO and I was frankly amazed at the final result considering my budget and far from optimal set up, location and my lack of any experience. I was using the session just to test and familiarise myself with the setup and acquisition using Astroberry with KStars/Ekos and expected to achieve nothing like the final result. Location : My back garden ( Bortle 8 ) Date: 03 Mar 2021. Scope: Celestron SLT 102. Camera: Unmodified Canon 450D. Mount: Skywatcher Az-Gti. 30x 30secs subs ISO 800, 12 darks, 40 bias. 0 Flats (must get some method of doing these). Stacked and processed in Affinity Photo, Topaz AI Denoise. I think I may have caught the bug and entered the money pit of DSO imaging!
  2. I'm new to the imaging game and here's another one of our satellite. Shot tonight at Prime focus with Celestron SLT 102 refractor and Sony Alpha SLT 65. Shot 250 frames as ISO 200 at 1/500s. Stack of best 50 frames Autostakkert, wavelets in Registax. Further processing in Gimp and Aurora HDR.
  3. Thanks for the input happy-kat. I found the Imaging challenge - I think I'll submit this latest image.
  4. I had another go tonight. The previous pictures were from processing 9 shots that I just took ad-hoc as famialiarisation with my set up. I wasn't intending to image the Moon. Tonight I tried in earnest and shot approx 250 frames at 1/500 sec. Stacked the best 20% in Autostakkert,. Wavelets in Registax (I tried to be less aggressive but it's soooo hard to dial down). Further processing in Gimp and Aurora HDR. I am happy with the result, but if there are any tips and tricks or advice that anyone can give I will be happy to hear. My equipment: Scope: - Celestron SLT 102 Mount - Skywatcher AZ GTi with Skywatcher wedge. Camera - Sony Alpha SLT A65
  5. Thanks for the response. No, I have not seen imaging challenge #1 . What is it / where can I find it?
  6. New to this and this is my first post (please be gentle with me 🙂 ). Any help and advice is welcome. I captured some shots on 22/02/21 and then the fun began. I have been experimenting with processing the results and have come up with the various final versions below. I am pleased and surprised with the outcome for a first attempt. Please can you advise which you feel is the best of the three - are they "over the top" on the processing. Also I am red-green colour blind and would appreciate if you could advise on if there is strangeness in the colour that needs correction.
  7. There is in fact a method to switch between the connection types by using the nmcli command . I have done this successfully and created scripts on the desktop to execute the switch. The example below switches to connection named as: Astroberry HotSpot. Create another with the connection name of your home network connection. !# /bin/bash nmcli -p con up "Astroberry HotSpot" ifname wlan0
