Exactly the same as I tried then.  Looks like your threaded rod may be slightly better quality than mine though :)

    James

Possibly, I read your post on your thread. There doesn't seem to be any wobble in mine.

When I'm happy with it all I'm going to put a notch in the end of the peg so I can tighten it with a screwdriver, then put a thin layer of locktite to lock it down. Hopefully it should do

Are you using the connector now, Stacey, or just the threaded section, or something different again?

    James

Hey James :) I had some threaded M10 rod left over, so I lopped a little off and used a file to square it off a bit and flatten the sides. It seems thick enough and I have plenty of azimuth adjustment. I did order some threaded stud connectors though as my plan b. They were pretty cheap at £2.50 for three. I figured they might be useful in future anyway

Looking smart! Those adapters are beautifully made 😀 If you need more diameter for the bolt, try threading on a ‘stud connector’. They are either hex sided or smooth. Should be about £1 on eBay

Ahhhhh that's what I was looking for!!! Just ordered some, thank you :)

I think that's the same as one of mine.  Do you have an az index pin for it?

    James

Sadly not. The pin on my tripod is one of the molded kind, it doesn't detach. Apparently I should be able to use an m8 bolt and then file the sides off if I need to :)

Love a time lapse. You had a nice clear sky last night. Pity it doesn't get dark until very late and even then, no sooner as it's dark it's getting light again!

So right, I'm picking my battles as and when to get my full imaging rig out. So thought if I can find other stuff to do then hopefully I won't get too bored over summer (and spend too much money ) ha!

I recently bought a cooled hypercam for astro imaging. I have never used anything else then DSLR before, so I have no experience using this kind of camera.

I tryed to image the moon, since that is the easiest target to find on the night sky. But it appears as a light bulb when I try to photograph it. I got a huge lightbulb on the screen and when I attached the recommended spacers the lightbulb became worse, and its not even possibly to see what I tried to take a photo of.

The photos shows my very first attempt with the 30 mm nosepiece that came with the camera – here you can see the moon. The other photo is using the spacers that was recommended. I have tried to focus in various ways and I have also read the manual Altair astro have on their web page.

I have no clue of what I might doing wrong. Anyone have any experience with this?

My equipment: refractor Starwave 80 mm triplet APO, Altair astro flattener 1.0x, Altair astro hypercam 1600M. I dont have any filter

Hi what spacers are you using ? It looks to me here like it was very out of focus and over exposed.

  7. Haven't been feeling too wonderful lately, so haven't done much work with my scope at all. Decided to ease myself back into it by going after this pair.

These galaxies featured in my first ever exposure with my equipment back in Dec17/Jan 18. I'd never used an eq mount before and I remember running up the stairs shouting that I had galaxies haha on a simple 30s exposure.

Its always good to revisit things :)

  8. Hi all, I'm definitely a newbie when it comes to solar imaging :) anyway took delivery of a new camera yesterday (I've been using a 290c up till this point) and got my first light today .

Camera is another purple one 😂

I think my dog likes the colour ??

Anyway I managed to shoot ar 2741 through passing cloud so I'm quite happy with this.

Shot with an Altair 72edf deluxe, quark Chromosphere and GPCAM3 178m :)
