  1. My first try at the Owl Cluster (didn't even know about it actually). L 10 X 128s RGB 5 x 128s for each It was a quick grab at the end of the night and the weather was getting bad, I hope to revisit it because its such a pretty target.
  2. I guess I can give it a try. Nothing much to loose. Besides, I did the fun part of flocking the scope a couple of days ago. So I'm itching to try it out.
  3. hmmmmmmm good to know I guess. Thanks for the info. I guess I just need to save up for the moonlite.
  4. Hi Adam, Do you think this: https://www.firstlightoptics.com/adapters/flo-compression-ring-adapter-for-skywatcher-newtonians-m54.html would be a good temporary improvement to keep the tilt (or lack of) constant? By temporary I mean till I can budget for a moonlite.
  5. Its not prefect, but I'm really happy with this one. Maybe next time I shoot it I'll have a lot more time to get more detail, this was more of a "lets fill in some time". Luminance 9 X 120 sec Red 7 X 120 sec Green 7 X 120 sec Blue 7 X 120 sec
  6. Hi All, Question, has anyone tried using a barlow with this scope? If yes, what are the suggestions? Also you would put the barlow then the coma corrector? Just curious about where to put it since now I have thins in this order: coma corrector then filter wheel then camera. Thanks, Fakhri
  7. Hi All, Still working on the tilt issue, its gotten a lot better, but since I couldn't check properly because of the moon .... well, here is last night's Harvester Moon. Fakhri
  8. I make the exact same comment every single time I order anything, or think of ordering anything! Question for all, When centering the secondary mirror, is it truly dead center? I decided to take apart everything and reassemble from scratch so I know everything is in its proper place, but for the life of me I can't remember if it is centered. When I try to have it dead center (according to my ruler) it looks like the spider vanes are not straight but curved. Am I doing something wrong?
  9. Thank you for all this wonderful info. My problem is that I live in Jordan so I end up paying about 70% extra on every item not to mention that for some insane reason over here we need to get security clearance for any astro related item. I guess we have move clear skies compared to you, but even with your cloudy skies you do have some nice advantages
  10. Hi Adam, I'm calculating it from the M48 thread. I guess I will have to do some more testing with that part. I think I need to correct the tilt first, which I am kind of dreading, since I am worried about adjusting the focuser with the camera attached. Lack of on hand accesss to people who know these things isn't a fun thing. Hi Susaron, I wish it was easy to get the moonlite, its on my list, but I always have to worry about shipping and customs costs. Out of curiosity, which tube length did you get? I want to image with the scope but still use for visual. Hi rotatux, Am not sure about the field rotation, since these were 30 sec exposures, and I also have 300 sec exposures and they 100% the same. Interesting thought about the wall, I would need find one far enough, but I'll give it a try. Thanks.
  11. oh cool , now that's interesting ... ccd inspector, am not familiar with that .. looks like my spacing is still off
  12. Thanks, looks interesting. Can it help with measuring the tilt? I can't see it covering the sensor enough.
  13. Hi All. I've got sort of an issue, I think with the focuser. In theory I have the correct spacing between the Baader CC and my QHY 163M (with a manual filter wheel in between). It looks like I have some tilt. I tried aligning the focuser and it seems to be okay, well at least without the imaging train attached. Is there any way for me to work on the tilt with the camera attached during the day? It is kind of frustrating at the moment. I've included an image which I shot yesterday. To be honest the image was just shot to see the stars and not for anything else, it was also shot from my light polluted roof. Any help would be much appreciated. Fakhri
  14. hahahhaha honestly .. I live in a desert .. so I have to worry about dust! Not to mention anything I need I have to order from Europe, so there is that fun part. The one advantage, I have lots of sun!
  15. From earlier today. I must admit, photographing the sun is cool (well not literally).
  16. Sometimes its worth getting out into the sun This is from today.
  17. This would be last night's partial lunar eclipse from Jordan.. The first two shots are a bit soft, but I blame the heat for that! It was around 40C yesterday. I love this scope. Fakhri
  18. Now that is a work of art!
  19. Thank you. But I wish we didn't have to buy everything from abroad. Makes this hobby a lot more difficult. On the plus side, the 130 PDS is an amazing scope that you can carry around, so having it shipped from Europe was worth it.
  20. Yes from Wadi Rum. The scope handled being off-road quite well (or at least as far as I can tell).
  21. Thanks Not to mention learn to process properly.
  22. Hi all, So this is the first time I take the scope to a dark site with my QHY 163M and RGB filters. Of course there were problems, which I guess is normal when you're doing something for the first time. So here is my final image (cropped). This is: 20 X 1 min for R 32 X 1 min for G 20 X 1 min for B Its not great, but I do think its a good start. Now I wish I could get the spacing correct for the cc. This is also the first time I ever process RGB images from a mono camera. (I guess that's what you might call as a disclaimer)
