No sharpening per se, just a different mix of wavelets. I almost never use any sharpening tools on my planetary images.
Sorry Geof I was meaning wavelets in the sharpening sense. People talk about Registax, astrosurface or wavesharp but in my view there are so many different combinations of wavelet settings that similar results can be attained from either application.
I really need to get some new data of my own rather than waffling 🥴

I would disagree+agree with Stuart @Space Cowboy as the softer ones feel like lacking something+something plesing too; the north pole is a lot softer but in the original image you have really nice details without being too much. The softer ones can be more pleasing to the eye. We have discussed this in length on how to have the smooth Damien like images that still have enough details.
Its the fineness of detail I'm on about Kostas. Damien's images have such fine detail if we are making a comparison in that regard 🙂

Thanks Stuart, the images from 25 Nov and the better one from 11 Nov both had the GRS showing which is always pleasing, so makes them look good, but you may be right. Of course seeing is variable and possible the seeing on 1 Dec wasn't quite as good. I did produce a sharper version, which possibly shows more detail, but it just looked too harsh, but here it is fyi...
I will be interest to have your opinion please.
Yep that is a bit too much sharpening. The detail is becoming bloated especially on the north pole. If thats grade 3 and the first version is grade 2 I'd go for grade 1 🙂

Great detail again Geof! Personally I prefer your previous images from 25th and I think 11th Nov? They had finer detail with a more natural appearance in my opinion.

I've had my SW Flextube auto tracking Dob for over 10 years and its always had intermitent tracking yips (jumps) in AZ. Some nights its fine and other times its very annoying. In the past I've tried tightening or slackening the AZ tension nut but nothing changes. Anyone had this or know of a sollution?
Here is an example :

Very good!

Thanks Stuart. We seem to be finally getting some stable seeing. I hope you can be out soon 😉
Can't face going out in the cold after working in it all day. Feel like I've been on an arctic expedition 😳 Same thing happened last December.
Did I ever mention last June? 😎

Thats another cracker Kostas! Lovely processing.

You are on the right track but a 2x Barlow would help a lot to bring out the finer detail.
F12 would be ideal for that sensor (5x pixel size) so maybe a 2x Barlow + extension tube.

Wow! Nigella these are the best Jupiter images I've seen on this forum in 2023! The natural detail is simply awesome! Its been mentioned about oversampling at f25 but its certainly not done you any harm.
Couldn't resist another tweak on your colour balance (auto rgb balance in registax) and also enhanced colour vibrance in image analyser :

Excellent detail! Just the colour balance being very yellow?

Those are excellent once the colour balance is fixed 👍

That looks like a clear PB Kostas! Outstanding! That gorgeous mother of pearl glow that Jupiter produces in good seeing and great processing.
Thank goodness you and Geof are hitting the target else the rest of us would probably pack it in lol
Inspirational! 👏

Thats excellent for a first attempt! I notice there is a grid pattern across the image. Which video codec did you use for capture?

The IR shot has come out well. 👍

Thanks Stuart. It was nice capturing some videos last night. The rest of my week is looking ☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️
There's a rumour going around here that it's going to be clear on Friday night 😮

Absolutely, thanks Geof I'm testing wavesharp at the moment so would be interesting to try your data.
