I was just thinking how warm it is during the last couple of months, although loads of rain . Obviously chilly at night and have to turn heating on first thing for couple of hours, ok they say that warmer temps are bad but we are saving loads on heating costs.(and less Co2 because of that).
Whats everyone elses' take.

Both computers will need connected to the internet. I use teamviewer, and find it invaluable
i have a 25 metre HDMI leads that goes from the mount outside and plug in to my 49 inch smart tv controlling with a wireless mouse, its like NASA in the back room when i am imaging, i can send sub images by wifi from the mount to Laptop inside but in order to platesolve and all sub are usually stored on the sd card(wireless as well)

I thought you did. It's dead easy from (I think) AA5 onwards. Go to the second page of the Pre-processing window and 1) choose auto alignment, then 2) Star pattern, translation and rotation and then 3) type in 180 for the max rotation. The screen grab is from AA6 but AA5 is almost the same. The third step is easy to identify, it just requires the maximum permitted rotation to be 180 degrees. This will save you an awful lot of faffing about.
A note on terminology: a meridian flip, confusingly, makes a rotated image and not a flipped one. A flipped image is a mirrored one. Some capture software does produce flipped output files, which is rather silly!
Olly
PS Correction: It seems you have to uncheck 'Automatic Settings' to make the third step. I always do so anyway because I prefer to up the number of alignment stars to the maximum allowed.
Wow does this work or what , thanks Olly.
I increased the star detection to 40 as suggested and lost 19 subs out of 77 in Ha (9 before flip rest after)but nice result as below
Processed a little in PS.
Thanks again Olly,
Roger

If the rig is still set up from a previous imaging session and the camera not moved, I re-use my flats having done a separate set for each filter.
Also I agree with Olly that the minute difference in focus between the filters is not worth worrying about, I never change focus between filter flats.
Carole
If you have a flatbox on the scope then it's impractical to focus for each filter for flats unless you have an auto focuser already with each offset,

I got chatting to the UKAI Team at Kelling, and asked how the FB group was going. It seems a few people have said how it's difficult to follow a thread on there and the Team were considering whether to re-start the UKAI website. I am not sure however what their decision was as they were going to discuss it at Kelling.
So if any-one hears it is up and running again, please report back. Those actually using the Facebook UKAI will probably hear first if it is going to happen.
Carole
answer from enquiry on FB:
Chris Bailey It was discussed at Kelling but we all drank so much on Saturday afternoon/night I doubt any of us can remember what, if anything, was agreed 🙂. IF we do bring it back it will be UKAI Lite!

Nice images , on the Pacman you seem to have the same green rings on larger stars ,with me it seems to be the green filter giving larger stars, i have messaged Baader thr makers for help why.

You live in a hot location, so you won;t be able to use some of the lower temperatures that we use here in the UK. I use -15 with an Atik camera, but I know a lot of people go much lower than this.
As regards warming up, this is to avoid thermal shock. I tend to switch off once my camera gets a few degrees above Zero as I feel it's not suddenly going from freezing cold to warm. Not had a problem so far.
RE: APT, I stopped using that for CCD imaging some years ago as I didn't feel I could trust the temperature to be reliable as the Exif reads out that were coming through did not match the temperature I had selected and varied from one image to another. It may well be that IVO has made improvements to this since I last tried it, so have been using Artemis ever since which I love. I still have a licence for APT, and there are many more bells and whistles to that, so what are other people's opinions on the reliability of the temperature in APT?
Carole
Yes Carole it seems now that they have sorted it as all my images have the set temperature and are all the same in APT, i set to -20oC.

I meant with the sub lengths. What’s the consensus on that in terms of weighting them? In an ideal world I wouldn’t be imaging in Oiii or Sii at all during a big moon
Oh sorry i think from what i here cameras vary but generally more Ha(i double usually)than OIII etc and Gain has a lot to do with it on some cameras.
Basically trial and error!

Thanks Roger. This is my first use of oiii and Sii in an image along with Ha so I just stuck with 10 minutes. I think I would change / go longer if the moon wasn’t out. What’s the general consensus?
Generally unless you are shooting towards the moon NB should cope alright with it,

Wonderful widefield image, well processed, do you ever vary sub lengths for different NB filters?

This is my Flats setup/box with an Aurora flat panel gaffer taped inside with a scarf (just right for holding it on around scope and handy on cold mornings) and white T-shirt for LRGB and take T-shirt off for Narrowband. As already said APT Flats Tool is spot on.
