  1. Evening all,

Well two clear moonless nights in a row, what a treat! I decided to try and get a good 15 or so hours of data on LDN 1235 the Shark Nebula with my little Redcat51 and Risingcam IMX 571. This is around 955 x 60sec exposures through a Baader L-Pro filter. It took about 13 hours to stack all the data lol.

Captured from Bortle 5/6 skies so I'm fairly happy with what I've got. I also tried to do a lot more processing in photoshop as opposed to 100% within Pixinsight, so I might try to re-edit this a couple of times to see if I can improve on things at all.

Thanks all for looking and I'm open to comments/criticism.

I think I prefer the first one, I really like the colours in that one. The other two are great though 👍

Yeah I like those colours. I think that was using a Loraxx method so I might have another go sometime with those colours, see what I can come up with.

    Thank you :)

  3. I've been playing around with this data (nothing else to do with the clouds) and following some tutorials online and I've come up with another rendition that brings out more of the background Ha. I think, if I'm being honest, I've probably gone a bit too far with this one but I kinda like the result. Moving forward I'll probably try and find a middle ground but it's always fun to play with data and see what's hidden.

  4. This is data captured remotely from Spain.

Sh2-126. Very tricky (to my newbie skills) to edit this accurately but I'm happy with this result. I'm sure people with greater skills than me could do it more justice though!

  5. Unfortunately I've never used Siril so I can't help much there. I use Pixinsight for everything. Seems strange you're getting no colour in your image though as there's obviously a lot of data in each channel.

I only have the  colour version of the 533.

Then there should be a lot more colour in your image than shown above. Have you ever used Deep Sky Stacker to stack the image, then processed in something like photoshop (or GIMP (the free version)). You should be able to bring out a lot more colour data?

  7. Good evening folks.

I/we are in the fortunate position that maybe 2 years from now a friend and I will be able to put forward approx £20k (total) for a remote set up, somewhere abroad (location as yet undecided). As I have only ever used an EQ6-R Pro level mount, I'm looking for advice as to some things I should be looking for in a mount for remote astrophotography. I don't want to go crazy, so no 10Micron 2000 etc lol. I'm also looking for advice from people that have a remote set up for the little things that we often don't think about that we'll need to purchase for full remote usage, think's like the ability to take darks/flats etc.

I'd also be interested in what people would spend the £20k on with regards to the big purchases. Telescope/camera matching, mount obviously, mono/osc? Filters etc.

We're probably going to aim for the fairly widefield side of astro to begin with, for nebula etc. No more than 1000mm F/L, probably closer to around 600mm or so, again advice would be very much appreciated.

And I guess anything else I haven't thought to ask :)

Thank you in advance for any tips or advice given. We have a lot of thinking to do but have plenty of time to make decisions, I just want to make the RIGHT decisions as I know technology is moving forward pretty fast at the moment.

    Phil
