Hi all,
I'm sure this must exist somewhere on the forum, but I can't find it... Has anyone made a comparison between images obtained with an unmodded DSLR using an h-alpha filter, and mono cooled CCD with h-alpha filter? I'm sure the CCD will come out on top (lower noise, shorter exposure times etc.) but am curious to see like-for-like comparisons, if any exist.
Thanks to anyone who can help with my curiosity!

Hi johnno, just wondering how you're getting on with your i-Nova PLB-Cx?

Can anyone explain how these cameras connect to the telescope? I currently have a D700 attached to a flattener / reducer on my 80ED. Is any kit needed to attach the i-Novas in a similar way?

These cameras have caught my eye too. Any thoughts on this http://www.scsastro.co.uk/catalogue/i-nova-cooled-nebula-series-camera-nbb-cx.htm as a first astronomical CCD, (upgrading from a Nikon D700)?
Question about imaging using camera lenses
in Getting Started With Imaging

I know that when imaging, getting the right focus is critical. If using a telescope, you can use electronic focusers (and perhaps software such a SGP) to regularly check and refocus if necessary. I'm wondering, how does this work if you're using camera lenses? Let's say you're doing an all-night imaging session. Do you need to manually check every hour or so to see if the focus has slipped? Or are camera lenses, often with their lower focal lengths, more forgiving when it comes to getting focus spot-on?
