Ach! Rogue thumb! Sorry.
Pretty cloudy here but took a chance getting scope out and was rewarded!
Definitely the biggest of this cycle, I think. Mrs Floater was a bit underwhelmed at first until I explained the size and she repeated what everyone here is saying: โWow!โ ย A result!! ๐

Well I also have another case the same for my 2" stuff, but I can't source a third case of the same type and OCD won't let me get a different one so I'm afraid my hands are tied! Definitely no more EPs. Definitely not. Nope ๐
OK. Anything you say โฆ ๐ค

8x or 10x is a good magnification for birdwatching and about 30mm aperture. I have a couple of Nikons and find the optics good and they are pleasantly lightweight. I always carry them in my hand when walking โcos I donโt like things hanging round my neck and bumping on my chest.
I also have a pair of image stabilising bins with a mag of 12x and they are a godsend for any protracted observing even if you have steady hands (which I donโt). I wouldnโt go above 12x for birdwatching as the higher the magnification the more difficult it is to get โonโ the target.
Of course, if budget is not a consideration then recommend Swarovski!
EDIT: Dave beat me to it.
p.s. Iโd avoid the zoom variants - especially the cheaper models.

Iโll stick my neck out and say it is definitely an image of NLC. Interesting structure and typical โwavinessโ.
Nice shot. ย ๐
ยedit: just noticed that rather smart scope in your profile pic. Oooh!
