  1. Welcome. I hope you have lots of fun with the hobby and the forum. πŸ™‚

…. And if you have difficulty finding dark skies close to home, we are all lost! - β€œwe live 7 minutes drive from Loch NessΒ and 15 minutes from Culloden battlefield.” - says it all. The Highlands Astronomical Society have an observatory at Culloden! To be recommended.Β

    Enjoy. πŸ‘

  2. Welcome. Hope you and the children have lots of fun.

You should, indeed, head for the likes of Galloway. If you have never seen dark skies like that the experience will blow you away. Enjoy. πŸ™‚

I stay just outside Dunfermline in Fife, Would you have any advice on where the Best dark sky areas nearby would be?

Sorry I can’t be of much help with that. Might be worthwhile getting in touch with a local astro club Β - I know that Dunfermline Astronomical Society exists, but only thanks to the wonder(?) of Google. There are others in the general Fife area, I believe.

    Best of luck.

  4. Welcome. I hope you have fun with the forum and the hobby. πŸ™‚

If you click on the Browse button, top left, and choose forums and then the beginners section you will find lots of interest and value to help in your search. Also, if you click on the banner heading it will take you to FLO’s website where there is a section for beginner telescopes and some advice.

Have fun with the journey - that is very important! πŸ‘
