  1. hi ladies and gents from south shields i have just acquired a 8 inch telescope i have a ccd camera attatched when i take a recording of the moon for instance its to close and i do not know how to video the moon from outside its diamiter any help would be apreciated its a registax 5 thank you

      Hi John, You fell into the same trap I did. To put it at its most simple. If you have a big telescope, generally it will mean you get a bigger image in your eyepiece and therefore any camera. You will only be able to take a portion of the moon. If you had a scope that magnified to a smaller degree, you would get more of the disk. I get the whole moon in my ETX90 but at lower magnification. But I get huge magnification in my LS 8" but cant get the disc. Hope that makes sense.

      I get the same thing cant fit the moon in just a part of it and no matter how I try I cannot focus it in either ive been messing around for weeks now does it mean my webcams no good for my scopes ??

      Valvenus, start a thread in the imaging section for more detailed advice. But I'd lay money that you are either over exposing the camera or you are using a newt and have run out of back (in) focus.
