Yes, a lot! As you said, more data, not only Ha but also O3. It really deserve!
That will be my next target.
Thank you. I will pick away at it as long as its in view, it was meant to be a quick target just to get back into the swing of things after the summer but has turned into a little project.

Hi all, After a few false starts I managed to get my first shot of the season also my first NB image with my newish SW ED72. I had done the Tulip years back with my old DSLR and although this image is better it still needs a lot more data.
All taken with my ZWO 1600mm at -15c and gain at 200.
Ha 16 x 240 sec
Oiii 25 x 240 sec
Sii 22 x 240 sec
Think i will add more Ha data at my next session.
Hints and tips welcome.
Thanks for looking.

I found this in the PI discussion forums, and do seem to recall there are minimum specs required for Starnet to run, older machines may not be supported
PI module checks if it can run and won’t install if it can’t, the most common reason being that the cpu lacks the minimum set of vector instructions.

Hi, just got my other laptop out, a more modern machine and it works on that! At least I now know I'm not going mad.lol. my old laptop is the one I prefer to use for processing as it's a lot faster and usable. I think I will have to switch between the two but I'm so impressed with the starnet processing. Thank you to you all for the help and support.

Which version of Windows ? as you may need to copy the files as 'Administrator' before they are copied properly....
Hi its windows 10, I will have to look at that. Im not much of a puter geek.
20 hours ago, fwm891 said:Also which version of PI - I think it only works on later versions?
Like Sara I did the download on the PI version, extracted the files, selected the files from the extracted folder and pulled them into the PI Bin folder. Opened PI, selected Modules/load modules - Starnet was shown so selected and hit install...
Hi, got the latest version. Im wondering wether its my lap top as its a good runner but over ten years old.
Thanks both for the help.

Having chanced upon this thread I decided to install Starnet myself and give it a go. I downloaded the zip file, then put all of the individual files from the folder into the PI bin folder. Then go to processes > Modules > Install modules then hit search. Mine installed from there straightaway.
Hope that helps
Nope cant get it to run. Keeping getting fail msg. oh well never mind Thanks for the help though.

Are you running PI on a Windows machine or on a Mac ? The current version only works on Windows.
If you are one Windows then the Readme.txt file included with the download gives some help if PI doesn't recognise it.
Hi its ta windows machine, thanks will have a look but feel defeated if i have to use instructions! lol.

Ok. I'd only press Sync once in CdC. By pressing it in APT as well you may have added a second alignment point to EQMod on the same position which might confuse things. I plate solve and sync in APT but if I was aligning on stars, planets or the moon I'd sync in CdC. It shouldnt matter which one you use as both just give an alignment point to EQMod and that's what points the scope. But I wouldnt sync twice on the same target.
Hi and thanks for the pointer, as i said before the summer break had it sussed and working fine. Must be just an age thing lol. Will give it another go the next clear night.

Are you talking about Carte du Ciel? How many alignment points did you do?
Edit: Just reread your comment. Did you align and press Sync in Cdc and APT for the same target?
Hi, yes both sync in Cdc ( Sorry used wrong Abreviation ) and APT. Thining about it I may not have selected an alignment star In APT. Didnt think you needed to do that, I was under the impression that you could do it all via Cdc. Oh and i only used one star for alignment, but in the past thats been all i have needed to use.

Hi all, tried my first session of the new season the other night ( havent been out with it since mid May ), anyway was a bit rustie on how things went but got the kit together and up and running ( or so I thought )! The problem Im having is I can select a star to align on on in Cdc, get it centered on the screen in APT, press sync in Cdc and APT. The co ord box in APT fill with numbers so I think ok thats good. Now the problem, I selected M16 as the target in Cdc press slew and it moves a few Deg and stops no where near the target. I went through this a few times with the same result. As it was playing up went with the old hand set and tried and that wored sort of. I thin the problem is me and finger trouble but cant for the life of me think what im doing wrong. Any help would be appreciated.
Andy.

Hi
I am new to this forum.
I have recently ordered a Zenithstar 103mm (gold version) mainly for visual use and some astrophotography. They are out of stock pretty much everywhere so there is a reasonable leadtime. I'll post a review after it arrives.
My decision to go with the more expensive Z103 is the build quality , fit and finish. It is going to spend a good bit of time set up in the living room so I was told by SWMBO that it better look good !!!
I have an older WO Megrez 72mm which is a superb scope and built like a tank.
Will be interested on your thoughts about this scope, I have been hovering around the buy button for a while. Looking at using it for imaging.

I heard that the TS 0.79x reducing flattener is better suited for this scope. Search the forums for info about this one.
Hi, I have been using the TS FF/reducer with my 72ed and have found from my limited use so far that it gives good results. My spacing for it at the moment is 65.5 mm but I think i need to do a few more tweaks to get it exact.( waiting for dark nights to return! )
Here is a single sub taken with the scope and TS FF

I have only used my SW 72 ED once as summer nights have arrived here but from my short time of use so far I think its a brilliant little scope. Roll on August so I can give it a good run!

Im no expert but have used a SW synguider for several years with no problems. Yes it takes a little setting up at first but once that is sorted it has worked well. I wouldnt say stay away from it, like many things once you have got it in your head how it works it becomes second nature.

This is an update from an earlier post:
I have just about doubled the data and I think you can see the effect. Im realy loving my little SW 72 ed the only problem is me and my lack of framing skills ( had to crop it a little more than planned ). So here it is, more data and a little less stretch.
Hints and tips welcome.
