Very clever!

A magnificent report, John. Many thanks! I think you made up my mind. Nirvana it is.

Since ES 30mm might be a bit out of my current price range, I was thinking about the SkyWatcher Nirvana UWA 28mm /82 deg. for a 12" SCT.
Anybody used this EP? What're your thoughts?
-
Very nice. Are you in the process of adding more scopes to the FOV calculator?
-
I wonder if this will work...a 2" coma corrector to live permanently in the focuser (the scope is f/4.5 and CC will probably be useful) + 2" to 1.25" adapter ...
Thinking something like this....
Revelation 2" to 1.25" adapter inside a Revelation Coma Corrector...

Generally I could do with SKy-watcher dual speed focuser - seems OK anyway - but frankly I find the usage of thumbscrews quite off-putting, let alone impractical for big EPs and centered collimation. This is one of the reasons I immediately replaced the stock focuser on my 12" Flextube.
Is there a way around this? Some adapters that use compression rings instead?? I don't want to end up replacing the whole focuser because of a couple of thumbscrews - Or do I ?

Here's mine, levelling feet and wheels for easy movement. Adds a few inches to the height but not a problem on my 300.
A close up with the Dob base in place
There are holes on the dolly to match the Dob feet to prevent it slipping off when I wheel it out from the garage into my garden.
Good one. What kind of feet are these...I mean are they called?
-
Yep, I thinking about these as well.
-
for what size Emad?
12 and 14 inch.
-
Is there a readily made solution that's sold in the UK?
-
Jumping the gun here...I'm thinking about building a dolly for my Dob, but also thinking about some mechanism to slip the scope + base off this dolly for observing then back up again. The last thing I want is adding extra height to the set-up.
Will be great having a look at some of your arrangements.
Thanks!

I don't believe FLO needs more praising, but the constantly great service and friendly non-corporate-like attitude is what keeps me coming back and this alone deserves further commendment.
I recently had a big order from them. Steve and Martin were more than helpful and cleared a lot of points I wasn't aware of before placing my order.
So, would like to say: thank you again, FLO!

12" F4 beside an 8" F4
My Dad beside the 12" F4 mounted
Be prepared- they are BIG! I had to buy a NINE step stepladder in the end to safely reach the camera!
I don't know, man. Every time I look at the amount of load your have on your mount I just cringe. Then again, you've proved once again that mounts could take probably more than their limits once properly balanced.

5'10" with 12" FlexTube and 5" frac. I can view zenith comfortably without a stool or cuban heels.

Nice gear. Is that a Bresser refractor??

Possibly as good, if you get one with a good mirror.
At about 20Kg weight and 145cm length, I could see the hassle of moving it around.
-
I think the solid tube Skywatcher 12" went out of production a couple of years back. Shame because that would be my preference if I was looking for a 12" dob right now. It was less expensive than the Flextube is too.
I think this leaves us with the GSO options - apparently they're as good as the Sky-watcher - if not better.

Brilliant post.

Really? Can you do that? That will be fantastic!
