nexstar 130 slt.
For the first time I felt comfortable setting the scope up , and actually managed to point it at a number of objects, however they all looked the same, discs of light, almost filling the eyepiece, but with a large black disc in the middle and a black cross running through it.
The black disk and cross are part of the internal stricture of the scope, but I am wondering if it really should be so intrusive?
Youare way out of focus there, that simple. You should have pinpoints of light for stars..
Wind your focuser qall the way in and then slowly take it out. You will see the disk slowly shrink and then shjould form the pinpoint.

Hi Steve,
Titania and Oberon at Uranus. Here is my "1st contact" report:
http://stargazerslounge.com/topic/253930-uranus-and-a-moon-maybe/
I've repeated the observation since but these two are still right on the limit for my scope and observing site - mostly seen with averted vision.
Triton at Neptune was a little easier and I could see it with direct vision most of the time.
Thanks for that John. I have not been doing much recently due to repairs and maintenance but now I am back in the game I am just waiting for the weather to play ball. Ohh erm wait
-
Which moons were you getting. Obviosly triton i would have thought but what else? Have you done a review that i have missed by any chance John?12" dob plus the 3.5mm Pentax XW (454x) primarily Derek.

YKSE, how do you like the NIKON's? I saw those on the website when I bought mine although you got the superwides. I notice they are a little cheaper ;-)
I still have not had chance to give mine a decent workout due to holidays and appalling weather. Most frustrating
ok so mention this and
So its your fault Steve???....
hahaha, maybe
I think I might check out the 14mm NAV-SW if I want to replace the 14mm Morpheus (which was not quite sharp at the edge at F/6
And so I'll get the blame for the need to spend more money here eh michael
tbh I would love to try one out myself, looks a lovely well made eyepiece.

With thanks for the recent advice, yesterday I added a 2" WO diagonal and TV Panoptic 35 to the arsenal. Worryingly, I'm moving dangerously close to the point when I can say I have all the eyepieces I need.
Very nice although I think a Pentax XW or Delos 10mm should replace the hyperion

We ought to set up a "Top Trumps" game for eyepieces (if anyone remembers that old card based game)
Hours of fun to be had comparing ep specs when its raining. Would overtake every single thread in the forum within a few weeks :-) :-) he he he

Thats a great set Kerry
The 20/21mm 100's seem large but somehow the shorter but fatter 30/31mm 82's seem larger when you put them in the drawtube !
When you use a Powermate, things can get a bit silly :
I will throw a picture up of the Nikon in the powermate when I get chance John, we are talking mini scope size
-
just saw this on eBay.de go for 125 Euros, dimensions (cms) 47 x 17 x 16
uh oh, forgot to say without the goodies!
I do like these wodden boxes however with the way many of us change our eyepieces I can't help but feel you would be buying to fit the box rather than fit the job!

My EP case is fairly complete (like I've never said that before! )
That great big gap will be eventually filled with either a 17.3 Delos or 17mm T4, the ES replaced with either a 22mm T4 or 26mm T5. I find I don't use low powers very much so no great rush for those.
There is Astronomic OIII, DGM NPB, Lumicon #8 and 82a# filters in the pouch in the middle.
That case looks very similar to how mine did last year when I made some sweeping changes, very nice. fwit I still miss the delos 8mm

Mike73 & Paul73, are you two brothers?

I still have my Naglers, and they are only going to be replaced by something WIDER (Nikon NAV HW, or ES 92°)
you have seemingly good taste Michael
-
There are still some in the same camp with you JohnLow mileage ones too !
Looks like I'll be the only one on the forum who still uses hyper wide eyepieces at this rate

Do you have lightweight and mediumweight travel sets as well Michael ?
-
wow what are those docter's, they look really nice

Thanks John. The neatness is the OCD coming out of me. Ruler and stanley knife and a lot of patienceVery nice and very neat Steve

So here is my revamped Eyepiece case. New acquisitions are the Powermate (2x), the Astronomik OIII filter (greenish box), the ridiculous low costing W Optics SPL 6mm (couldn't resist), the Radian 5mm and the shining light Nikon Nav-17HW. The box laid flat next below the 6 filter cases contains the EIC to turn the Nikon into a 14HW.
I am keeping the Vixens, both to provide for narrow field viewing if ever needed for cutting out bright stars etc and the 15mm NLV also fits into my 60mm spotting scope where it sits really well.
So that's 7/8 eyepieces, 11 usable focal lengths when I throw the Powermate into the equation.

Or for even more top class flexibility, the Leica ASPH zoom is now £430 (or 599 euros) on Dutch website Photospecialist.
This boats already sailed mark but thanks all the same http://stargazerslounge.com/topic/253226-new-extra-special-toy/

Ok based upon exchange rates the Nikon EP (17mm) is costing £536 then add £26 P&P.
So next using a import duty and vat calculator http://www.dutycalculator.com/new-import-duty-and-tax-calculation/ it gives me a UK price of £706. Hmm very interesting.
As Michael says, two top notch bits of glass for the price of one. I would need to think long and hard about this one though, the thought of importing from half accross the world does not really appeal to me however I would email the suppliers for more info.
-
Me neither, but buying it in Japan would make it 770 euro or so (536 GBP) for TWO focal lengths. That is not such a bad deal
hmm, not sure if my nephew is going out there soon, i will have to ask him
-
My only worry is the eye relief: 16mm is right on the borderline of what is useful to me with my glasses. If it turns out they are "optimistic" in their specs (not that I would expect that from Nikon) by as much as 1mm, they would not really work for me.
I really couldn't see myself paying a £1000 for an eyepiece mate, even if the ER was perfect (19mm)

Great collection. The NAV-HW have a great reputation. I almost bought a NAV-HW when I was in Japan in 2012. When later I saw the difference with European pricing I kicked myself
I see what you mean michael http://www.apm-telescopes.de/en/eyepieces/more-74-ultra-wide-angle/other/nikon-nav-hw-12-5-mm-eyepiece-corrector-eic-10.html
