  1. Needs a bit of tweaking and i am not suere about what codec to use... at the end of the day for this application frame rate isnt an issue also the lens might not have an IR coating on it... again not so much of an issue and might actually be beneficial for night time cloud monitoring...

I might go with Phils suggestion and jack the existing lens mount forward using spacers

    Peter..

  2. It needs a bit adding to it rather than some coming off...

You could protect the pcb with silver foil when your using the heat gun just in case...

If a couple of you want some of the "ideal" heat shrink just drop me you postal addys in pm's and I'll put some in the post...

It will be used for imaging clouds - well hopefully clear skies but will give me a an ultra wide FOV shot to keep an eye on for approaching clouds when I am running the kit from in the house...

    Peter...

  3. You sound like a man who's good with ideas......I got a super wide fish eye knocking about, and a spare cam from Morgans, but no adaptor to connect to the fisheye (well I've got one but it's slightly to small).....any ideas on how I might get around that? :D

This is the lens i bought 160 degree FOV...

2.1mm Board Lens 160° Angle FOV for CCTV Dome Camera on eBay (end time 19-Sep-10 11:45:11 BST)

For it to focus it basically had to be held flush with the lens mount in the 880... so no threads to hold them together.. I had a bit of self adhesive heat shrink which just fitted around the base of the existing lens mount and shrunk down to hold the lens... i used one of those cheap craft heat guns on its lowest setting which was enough heat to shrink the tube without melting the glue or desoldering the components from the 880's pcb...

Another way to do it is remove the existing lens bezel and lens make a ring of blue tack to temporarily hold the lens in place then when you have it focused just use a bead of hotmelt around the edge of the lens...

  4. Mine now has a super wideangle fish eye lens for use as a sky cam....

The lens unfortunately comes to focus about a 1mm further out than the existing mount thread would allow so a bodge was required...

A short length of the tube was added to the existing lens mount and then gently shrunk so that the glue softened but not activated allowing it to form to the thread on the lens body without sticking.. So I can still adjust the focus... :D

Once i am happy with the focus the gap between the lend barell and the camera body will be filled with hotmelt...

    Peter...

  5. Is that what they are up to now? They are on the website for 6.99 still.

I noticed one of mine has what appears to be a dead pixel or two as there is an artifact on the image, the other one is fine though. Looks like one for the computer and one for the scope

Administrative at morgans error due to the demand.... :D

They have crept up to £6.99 but i eventually go the 4 that weren't despatched at the Friday price... :)

    Peter..
