Ah, now that I look, I see it doesn't have a 'Near' solver set. That's weird! It definitely used to have one. I set it to PS2 and it started working again, though slower than it used to. That worked for an hour or so and then started timing out on every attempt.

So I've given up on that session (what a frustrating pastime this is!) and come inside to download a few more plate-solving options.

I would consider upgrading to ps3 which is faster , installation details in the user guide, what version of Apt are you using ?  https://www.astrophotography.app/usersguide/pointcraft_and_plate_solving.htm?ms=AAAA&q=UGxhdGVzb2x2aW5nIA%3D%3D&st=MQ%3D%3D&sct=MA%3D%3D&mw=MzM1

  2. Would it not be better to upgrade the motherboard to the latest version which comes with the screw in power connector , I upgraded mine a while ago to the previous version and a week later this version came out .

, but I dont need mount control and all the other stuff

You don’t need to be connected to a mount in Apt for it to send platesolving results to your planaterium software , you can just platesolve an image and press show and coordinates will show in whatever planaterium you’ve configured,

I was not aware that there is an upgrade-set, so no. But for me that is no issue, I use it mainly as a collimator for other scopes and once a year for reach-out where I collimate it at about 45-60° altitude.

Still I would like to learn more about those springs, is there a set off-the-shelf available?

    I used these on my 200pds https://www.bay.co.uk/itm/124783634360?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=8wq7Z9toR0m&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=xQsxeo45SGa&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

  6. Deepspace astro on Youtube has written a script for siril that uses starnet, how to install Starnet in Siril this is a pixel math script by bill blanchard and gave Deepspace astro permission to port to Siril ,link to the siril script in the comments of video but also link down below , so basically you need to download and instal starnet on your pc and configure Siril so it knows the directory path to starnet , download the star reduction script for siril and instal into scrips folder in siril ,Deepspace Astro covers quite a lot of Siril in his videos too.
i ran a Wip image of the pacman  through the script that I processed in startools just to see how it came out  and seems to do a good job , only prequisite is too run it on image before converting to jpg but that’s mentioned in Deepspace Astros video

    Siril script download - https://onedrive.live.com/?authkey=!ALa ... by&o=OneUp
