  1. Hi. It was a while back and I sold the ETX on. I think I resolved the issue by reflashing the hand controller. Hope that helps.
  2. Thanks for sharing this. I'm sure this will be welcome news for anyone else who has a similar problem.
  3. Sorry, what's the logic control system of the controller?
  4. It upgrades no problem, but I still get the error message 'both axis... no response'.
  5. Do you mean what errors am I getting if I reflash it to v3? I haven’t tried that as I was checking here to see if it was possible to do which apparently it isn’t.
  6. The dead one came with some stuff I bought, so I'm trying to fix it.
  7. Thanks. The mount works fine as I have another v4 hand controller that works perfectly.
  8. Does anyone know if it's possible to downgrade synscan v4 to v3 on a v4 hand controller? Reason for asking is I have a faulty v4 hand controller with a 'both axis no response' error message and I've tried everything to fix it and have this last thing I haven't tried. Anyone know? Cheers.
  9. Interesting, I might have to give this a go. Will my NEQ6 be OK with 13.8V?? Also strangely my other v4 handset works fine with a 12v supply, not sure why the faulty v4 handset would be different?
  10. Wondering if anyone can help. I have just acquired a 2nd hand synscan v4 handset that came with some other stuff I bought, but unfortunately when I connect it to my NEQ6 I get the error message 'Both axes... No response!'. You can get past this error message but you can't slew the mount. I already have another v4 controller which works perfectly so I know the cable works fine and there is nothing wrong with the mount. I have updated the firmware on the new v4 controller to the latest version hoping this might reset the handset but to no avail. I'm not sure what else to try. Does anyone have any ideas?
  11. Guys. Do you know if there is any way of knowing if the play I'm getting is caused by backlash?
  12. I don't have any other problems as far as I'm aware, just the backlash. Seems to be quite prominent though. I've just checked my celestron 6se and there is a tiny amount with that but there seems to be excessive amounts with the star discovery.
  13. Yes my problem is a slight amount of play before real movement in az. See attached video which shows the problem. So is this backlash then? And if so, you think it requires gear adjustment? IMG_7036.MOV
  14. So playing with the clutches didn't solve it? That's the only reason I want to adjust them, to try and get rid of the manual movement in azimuth. It's annoying because if you've found your target, one nudge and its moved position.
  15. Glad to hear you've got yours working. Did you have any issues with play in the azimuth and is that solved now? With mine if you go to rotate in azimuth by hand when the mount is stationery you can rock it back and forth slightly, did you have this problem at all? Thanks for sharing the spanner you used, I'll give that a go.
  16. Also here's a link to my post about the problem I'm having if you're interested... https://stargazerslounge.com/topic/323361-skywatcher-star-discovery-azimuth-slop/?tab=comments#comment-3524353 Hoping your fix might help with this.
  17. Hi. I'm trying to adjust the bottom clutch on my star discovery as I've got some manual rotation slop going on on the azimuth axis. I see you 'manufactured' your own spanner, can you tell me what you used or how you manufactured one as my spanner is too thick to go into the space? Cheers.
  18. Hi. I have a black non go-to HEQ5 mount head for sale (no tripod), I also have a portable pier for it too if you're interested? Cheers, Ben

Ben, Many thanks for your message, very interested in your mount, can you tell me about its condition, and are you the original owner. I assume it is all working and drives as it should. Also tell me about the pier. What are you looking for price wise?

Sorry, also have you any pictures of the kit

      cheers

  19. Thanks Phillip. Actually this is a different scope to the one I had the problems with last month, luckily I sorted that one, now I have a new challenge to get my teeth into Cheers for the advice. I'll look into that. Just thinking though, won't the glue spread onto the secondary mirror with the way you are suggesting??
  20. Just seen this, thanks for pointing out the glue ring! It might be a case of just pushing the baffle back on and it stays but if it's fallen off once it probably will again. Can anyone recommend me some glue please?
  21. Yes but to get the corrector plate off I need to turn the scope upside down which will make the baffle roll across the mirror or is there another way of getting the corrector plate off without turning the scope upside down?
  22. Anyone got any ideas how I can remove the corrector plate without turning the scope upside down after I have removed the locking ring? As the baffle is currently resting on top of the mirror surface, if I turn the scope upside down the baffle is going to roll across the surface of the mirror before it drops on to the inside of the corrector glass.
