  1. Anyone know what the 2 holes are for on this T2 male to male adapter? I think it's a ZWO adapter, at least that's what it says on the packet, although have looked up the zwo product and it doesn't have the holes which is why I question that, wondering if this might be an older model perhaps.
  2. This is a very interesting point. I hadn't even thought it might be condensation or frost. It was a much colder night this time than when I took it out previously, so it could well be this. Does the condensation form on the glass window or the chip? I will have to take it out and test on the next cold evening. Any suggestions for how I can remedy this?

  4. Ok so I went out last night to carry on sorting the last teething issue I’ve got with my Starlight Xpress SXVF-M25C which I have finally sorted, however... I now have again a blurry rendering of the spikes on the bahtinov mask which when I went out last time I had sorted. Last time I fixed the blurry spikes issue by increasing the exposure time in live view to 7 seconds (I’m using Astro photography tool by the way) and I got some lovely clear, crisp spikes. However this time for some reason the spikes were all blurry again. I’m wondering whether it was the seeing conditions that made it like that as I had not changed any settings since the previous time? I tried experimenting with bin settings and found the rendering of the spikes was better using 1x1 but not enough to distinguish them (see first photo). If I tried with 2x2, 3x3 or 4x4 the spikes were completely unrecognisable (see second photo), just a blurry blob. As said no other settings had been changed since my last session other than me experimenting with the bin settings. I also tried experimenting with the live view exposure time going up to 15 seconds at one point and as low as 1 second but nothing seemed to work, it was marginally better at around the 7 second mark. What’s going on?? I’ve attached a photo of the spikes using bin 1x1 at 7 seconds.

Found this on astromart which I think confirms it is in fact the flo adapter for skywatcher focal reducers that tooth_dr said he thought it was and that Ouroboros showed a photo of.   6. Trying to identify this part and what it's for which came with some stuff I bought recently. I think it's some kind of nosepiece but not sure what it connects to. The nosepiece end is 50.5mm external diameter with an internal thread of 48mm. The bottom male end is also 50.5mm external diameter. Anyone know anything about this? Cheers.

  8. Thanks. Interestingly the tilt is applied over the area that would correspond with the top of image. I am wondering if gradually lessening this part might resolve the problem.
  9. Interesting. Did you flatten yours out, or did you apply some tilt? I've been playing with the spacing to get the back focus distance right with coma corrector which I think I've sorted but I've still got some slightly stretched stars in the top left and right areas of my image, I'm wondering if this is being caused by the tilting. The camera has some tilt on it which was how it was when I bought it. Do you think flattening it out might resolve this?
  10. Cheers martin. I've been having quite a lot of teething issues, this was one of them, but I'm slowly ticking them off, looking forward to doing some proper imaging (eventually lol).
  11. Thanks. No I haven't debayered, this is the raw fits file which I converted to a JPG so I can do a quick preview of it. Do you know if deep sky stacker will debayer when I process the fits files?
  12. Slowly getting to grips with my starlight xpress SXVF-M25C CCD. Last thing on the list I'm trying to figure out is a strange matrix of dots on my images. Have included a close up of a star which shows it clearly. Is this the bayer matrix? Anyone know how can I get rid of it from my images?
  13. This came with some stuff I bought the other day. Not sure what it is or what its used for. The male thread is 53mm, the female thread is 42mm. I assume it's a T2 adapter of some kind, but not sure exactly. Also not sure what the holes in the top are for, is it for tightening? Hope someone can shed some light. Cheers.

  15. I've just had a reply from Terry on the starlight xpress yahoo group and he says it's approx 17mm. I'm going to set my baader varilock to allow for this and see how it goes. I will report back my findings.
  16. I'll take that back, I don't have the 6mm t2 extension, only a 7.5mm, but I guess if I make the varilock 1.5mm shorter, so 22.5mm instead, that should sort it.
  17. Does anyone know the distance from the chip to the outer edge of an SXVF-M25c? Is this called the back focus? I’m trying to get the spacing right with my skywatcher coma corrector. Cheers.
