Hi folks
Sadly I won't be able to make it this time as I will be in Hospital on Friday having a biopsy done, something I'm really not looking forward to. Plus a very good astro friend of mine passed away recently & the funeral is on Tuesday so not been having much of a good time lately.
Sorry folks ☹️Hope things get better for you soon Tich.

Hi Justyn
I'll see if this grumpy old git can fit you in.
You do know it's in July this year don't you, with only canal bank pitches available.
Hi Tony, I'll get the narrow boat ready ?
-
Hi Tony,
Same pitch as usual for me please , looking forward to it already.
How is Cath? Is she still having to look after the same grumpy old git she always has? ?

I was at Lucksall last weekend and the have installed a barrier in front of the café at the start of the main drive that runs parallel with the river. A camera reads your car registration (which has to be registered with the campsite office) before it will open.
This may effect those wishing to visit SGL2017 at night.

I have booked in!!!!!

you got the link to the site mate>?
As Mattscar says it's from a facebook page about science which has a swear word in it, so it would not be appropriate to post it here, though I am sure you can find it.

I came across this and just wondered how accurate it is? I thought the crab nebula would have been smaller.
The actual sizes of various different deep space objects. If they were brighter, this is how they would appear in our night sky. The images are in scale with one another, including the Moon, but not to the Milky Way background.
1. The Moon.
2. Andromeda Galaxy.
3. Triangulum Galaxy.
4. Orion Nebula.
5. Lagoon Nebula.
6. Pinwheel Galaxy.
7. Sculptor Galaxy.
8. Supernova remnant 1006.
9. Veil Nebula.
10. Helix Nebula.
11. Sombrero Galaxy.
12. Crab Nebula.
13. Comet Hale-Bopp (c. 1997)
14. Venus.
15. Jupiter.
16. International Space Station- 6

Welcome to SGL Nagarajan. Have a look at the DIY astronomer section, you will get plenty of ideas and advice there.

His executors are planning a farewell event in March on what would have bee Sir Patrick's 9o th Birthday.

Sir Patrick will be missed greatly, As a child he inspired me in astronomy and may others since. He had an amazing life, he met Orville Wright (the first man to fly) and Neil Armstrong - first man on the moon,

Here was my first DSO, M31, taken with the old blue SW 10 inch newt on an EQ6 PRO, with the unmoded Canon 450D, no coma corrector or LP fillter. Taken from central Cardiff about 3 years ago, 8 x 120 sec exposures, unguided. It took ages in PS to remove all the LP, the light gradient was removed with Gradient exterminator.
Arrrr - the bad old days!!!! I guess half the fun of AP is learning by your mistakes.

Thanks Tony for organising the SWAG astroparty, yet again.
Thinking of going to Fforestt Fields for a long weekend around the 4th to 8th April. Anyone else up for it?
