Sorry to hear about Astro Eclipse lack of communication. We used them last year for the Wyoming eclipse and found their service quite adequate (barring the quality of some hotels.... )

This year we've booked with Astrotrails, which is the company we have always used and they have been good in communicating with newsletters. We view the eclipse from Bella Vista which will be also the Astro Eclipse site, the difference I believe is that we stay in San Juan and Astro Eclipse in Rodeo, a small village just outside Bella Vista. I think the accommodation there is listed on their website: something or other "cabines" .

We booked our international  flights separately to Buenos Aires, then on tour to SanJuan , Atacama desert, Cerro Paranal (VLT), Santiago and back.

    Hello Ceramus,

I might catch up with you in Bella Vista as I am also with Astrotrails route 6.

  2. Hello SGL,

Hopefully somebody will be able to help me out about wrong date?

I went out last night to do some viewing, going thru my usual set ups (after getting GPS fix) I went to first star align (Arcturus, after putting scope in home position), telescope should have gone left but for some reason it went right!  I re did set up on another two tries and both times the scope went right, er?   Next time I let the scope go thru whole set up and decided to manually check date, time etc.  Time was okay but for some reason date was 25 Aug 2099, time travel for the scope?  I did have a viewing session after I did a manual input to change date.  Any way I tried to set up again this morning, time was fine but for some reason date was reading 26th Aug 2099?  Is there a problem with GPS system or do I have a problem with the hand controller or something else within the scope?

If anybody has seen this before or has an idea of what is wrong I would be most grateful for an answer as I am at a total lost for ideas.

    Thank you in advance.

    Peter

  3. I have a pair of Celestron 15x70's which I can use without a tripod and a pair of 20x80's which I brought in Dubai in 1997, these have to be put on a tripod as they are too heavy for any real viewing. I keep a pair of Russian 7x50's in the car that I have used for visual viewing at times, I find these to be a bit small for planetary, ok for the moon and large areas of the night sky. I have used the 20x80's for solar viewing with a baader film on the front before I got a PST.

  4. Would just like to thank FLO for a great service.

Ordered my Hotech Collimator on Friday via the interent, recieved e mail on Monday saying it was being sent out today and it was waiting for me last night at home after coming in from work.

That is what I call a fast turn around:icon_salut:

Now all I need is some clear nights to try out the Hotech, when is that going to happen....

    Peter
