  1. Hi Many thanks for your replies. I notice that the R pi comes with 4 USB ports . I use powered hub with my laptop as I need more ports will the R pi work the hub? I also use a wired games pad to to control the mount for alignment this was set up with eqmod. I think that SM / astroberry will run eqmod? So if I buy a R pi 4 I need 4gb RAM a case power supply HDMI lead to load the software and can I use my existing usb leads? (shorter ones would be easier) I also have eqdir lead connects the eq6 to the laptop can that be used? Cheers Peter I am connected direct to the AB. When I first connected my home Wi-fi was shown in the connection. I looked again and AB hotspot was shown I then opened hidden wireless connection and loaded my home Wi-fi General tab ticked connect auto with priority 100 ticked all users may connect to network NOT ticked auto connect VPN metered connection auto SSID shows my network wi fi sec WPA and WPA2 personal I lowered the auto priority to 50?
  2. Ok thanks I have the AB on at the moment and plugged into a monitor. Would it be easier to attach a mouse and key board and do it that way? Cheers
  3. Hi I set up the AB yesterday afternoon. I could not change the AB hotspot to the home wifi wirelessly. So I hardwired the Ras pi AB to my router as suggested by Steve (my PC is wired also). After I did this it worked and I changed the AB network settings to my home router I saved the settings and I started loading my INDI settings. I shut down AB properly, I have now turned the Ras pi AB on. On my PC I have typed astroberry.local into my web browser and nothing happens. I assumed the AB would be connected to my wifi? On my PC wireless settings AB is back as a hotspot it should have disappeared. I have tried turning firewall off and VNC off all to no avail should I go back to hard wirering the AB and start from the beginning again? I have AB PC turned on for the the next hour if anyone has any suggestions. Many thanks for all your help Cheers Peter

  6. Hi Thanks for your replies, I am trying to change wifi to home server. I am connected to the AB using the http address that Steve described I put in my wi fi details in the Preferences advanced network config. When I then click on connect to hidden network as explained in the youtube video I lose connection and I am back to square one! My PC is hardwired to the router in the video a laptop is used wirelessly not sure if this is an issue? I am set up at the moment I will spend another hour otherwise I will try again tommorrow Cheers Peter
  7. Dear All I have sucessfuly loaded astroberry onto my rasberry pi. I was not going to plug in a mouse and keyboard into the Ras pi as I watched a youtube video which showed how you can change the Ras pi from a bluetooth hotspot and controlled it from the home wifi? However once the software had loaded I could not see how to turn it off properly. So I plugged in the mouse and keyboard entered the password and turned off. I assume that when I turn on again I can set up all the INDI software from my desktop PC? With the astroberry Ras pi connected to my home wifi? Does the Ras pi need to be running to set up all the INDI settings? Is it then just a case of entering all of the correct INDI settings plugging in all the wires hub and testing Many thanks Peter
  8. Hi All I am awaiting all the hardware. Ras Pi4 with 4 RAM, Flirc case, official power supply and HDMI adapter. I have bought 2 SD cards one 32GB and a 64GB.( I can use one for my camera). Which card is best for the Ras Pi ? I watched a youtube astronomy guide to astroberry installing and setting up last night (which is 3 months old). Will my SD card need formating ? I understand you load Aberry/SM on the card with a PC and then load onto the Ras Pi and use the HDMI and monitor. You can then change the AB/SM from a wifi hotspot and use the home wifi LAN. Can this all be done inside the house with strong wifi signal? Looking forward to setting this all up many thanks Peter
  9. Thanks for all your help. I notice that the Pi Hut sell a Sandisc SD 32GB card pre installed with OS NOOBS for £9 seems reasonable I assume I will need this? Or I can download it myself on blank card. Cheers

  11. Hi Stuart Many thanks for your reply and your offer to help. I am tempted to purchase a raspberrry pi as you suggest. I have a few questions just looked on Amazon they vary in price due to RAM is 4GB enough? Also do all rasberry pi include SD card which I will need. Also I will need a case are the cases weather proof? (I plan to attach the Rasb Pi to the mount which I cover when not in use) I use a mains power supply to power my mount it has just one socket. What do you use to power your Rasb Pi ? I am also wondering how to get wi fi in my garden (with a booster as I mentioned ). Will Rasb Pi / SM work on planertary images when avi video files are used Best wishes thanks again Peter
  12. Dear All I am considering buying the Stellermate controller, I have an eq6ne pro mount an Altair triplet with Atik 314L Atik filter wheel and Pegasus focuser with Hitech control. I also use a 400mm camera lens with QHY5 for auto guiding, At the moment I use an old laptop which works well for deep sky images. I read a review of the ZWO Asiar in AN magazine and I heard a talk on the Rasberry pi astroberry from my astro society. I thought I could control my imaging from inside my house? I have since heard that the Asiar will only work on ZWO cameras? I am not particuarly good with tech so I was thinking that SM controller would be best. I notice that astroshop.eu sell it I have used this supplier before. Will I need outdoor wi fi extender? If so is there one you would recommend? Also I occasionally use an image souce camera for planetary images when I do this I use a faster Win 10 laptop. Is the SM / Raspi fast enough for planetary images? Many thanks Peter
  13. Hi All i have used cartes du ciel and eqmod on an old Xp laptop for years. I have recently tried to use the same set up on a faster windows 10 laptop. I have successfully connected with eqmod using the eqdir cable which will control the mount. But when I open cartes du ciel I choose ascom then connect telescope and the eqmod plug in does not pop up and the telescope will not slew through the planetarium software. There is a choice between ascom local and ascom alpaca which seems to be a remote online connection ? So I choose the first which is called a ascom devicehub telescope . can anyone help with this problem many thanks Peter Rees
  14. Thanks for your replies. Is it possible that my guide scope 400mm camera lens f6.3 and QHY5 autoguiderwill work with the mentioned sharpcap? Peter
  15. Many thanks for your replies. Do you know if Polemaster will work on an old Windows OS ie XP? If not I do have a newer lap top I could use just for the alignment. I find that using my old lap top is useful as all my astro software is on one computer Peter
  16. Hi I have been doing astro photography for a number of years. Currently I am using a Skywatcher neq6 mount an Altair 80mm triplet Atik 314l and filter wheel. I autoguild with QHY5 on a 400mm camera lens. I also have a 200mm newtonian f4 750mm fl which I used for imaging before my refractor. I have SC Celestron which I use mainly for visual. When I was using my Newtonian the auto guilder would work for an hour or so before loosing the guide star. I have since found that with my refractor that I can guide for hours. I am not sure if my polar alignment technic has improved or the shorter focal length has helped? I see that ioptron and QHY have polemaster the QHY is more expensive but has greater accuracy ? I use an old lap top to run all my astro apps which uses Windows XP will these devises work on this version of Windows? I also have an astro trac which I believe you can buy an adapter for to use the polemaster? I would be pleased to hear any opions regarding these 2 Polemaster Many thanks Peter
  17. Hi I have an Atik aw2 filter wheel which I use with Atik 314l camera on a triplet refractor. I have used this set up with capture software for over 2 years with no problem. last night I could not record any images the sequence menu told me the filter was in the wrong position. I could hear the filter wheel moving so there appears to be connected. Has anyone had similar issues with their filter wheel I would appreciate any help many thanks Peter
