Have you taken tgese readi gs from a lp map, cos they are not most accurate. However if you can get 21.82, that is black, milky way casting a shadow dark!
took the readings myself steve 😆

No Mike, I abandoned the project after a few futile weeks. I found the vanes of the secondary holder to be very twisted and the mirror slightly chipped. I decided life was too short to continue attempting the repair/collimation so I got rid of it. I was very lucky to source an excellent used 130pds from a local member of this forum who been very helpful to me in the past, I'm very happy with it.
Thanks for asking.
that is great news Laurence 👍

Some time ago a local clubmate of mine bought the appropriate laminate from David Lukehurst. David is well known to those into premium Dobs. It’s probably a good idea to contact David and ask if he can still help.
i contacted david. he supplied me with 3000mm x 40mm for my alt bearings and a square piece 600mm x 600mm for my azy bearing for £40 inc postage
what a awsome dude
fitting it all today 🤣

Just wondering what the best material is for dob bearings with ptfe pads. My bearings are painted with hammerite. But I know some use formica ?
What do you use and any links.
And what do you use to bond it.?
Impact adhesive maybe.
Thanks

TBH mate when I got there the site was a bog, got out of car and sank in mud.
My mojo crumbled and came home.
I should have gone to my other hard standing site but never really thought about it.
Might do some garden observing tonight, not the best but it is still better than nothing at all.
That reminds me of the first time I went to my dark sky site. When I got there in the dark on my own I bottled it and came home 🤣
