This is my pride and joy. For a few nights a year, though. Very happy with the portability. It's only 9.5kg's and it's quite small so I can actually take it with me as hand luggage on a plane! (never tried that out)
Mirror is also the best my money can buy: a OOUK research grade I think it is. 0.988 strehl or thereabouts. So the mirror is hardly ever the limiting factor
very nice. i dont think mirrors come much better than a orion optics uk. love mine to death

i love the 8mm as well and find my eps cover all bases, just need a pm now. i used to have most of the delos, full set of bgos and a 22mm and 31mm nagler, sold them all to buy what i have now and dont regret it at all

hi damian, after all the work you have done and time spent and got it so close, would it cost much for john to finish it off for you, overwise you could go to far and have to junk your blank. im realy not knocking you mate you realy have tried your best and most people woulld of given up by now. you should of become a doctor, you have loads of patience

Finally ditching the shoebox! Got a number of astronomy camping trips lined up and knew that everything needed more protection and to be sealed from dust. Found this case with a gasket around the lid. Planning to use the middle for solar filters.
thats a great looking box

Late to the party but here's mine. Only about a month old - my first scope and I love it!
12" Explore Scientific Truss Dobsonian. Got it for its aperture : portability ratio and very pleased with it so far

thats lovely mate. put your location (roughly) in your signature, people can help you then if need be and advise you on locations. welcome to sgl as well

Pic below. Essentially, I removed the base from the RDF and attached it with two macho nylon cable ties. It's tight/loose enough I can rotate it to refocus the RACI if I need to.
To align, I pointed the RACI at a brightish star, centred it, and then adjusted the RDF until it covered the star. In use, I swing the scope using a rough aim with the RDF, and then use the RACI.
Chris
thats brilliant, thank you
