  1. Hi peeps Just wondering if anyone has the new series 6 paramount myt and how they get on with it also can you confirm it has the 3 xt60 ports on the instrument panel . Also do any off you use a power box with it and do you connect the power to the mount via the power box or power the mount then use the through the mount capability to power the box and the other accessories Dave
  2. Hi William Yes I agree you can’t compare the too makes properly as obviously as you say 10 micron are contactable for problems or concerns whereas Software Bisque have gone down the open forum route which probably distorts the percentage of their mounts that need fixing or problematic I guess the fact that they sold thousands around the world it’s obvious that more of their mounts are going to cause concerns . It’s a hard one to weigh up really I like the 10 micron but don’t know if I can justify the extra £2-3000 on it even I was leaning that way unless I can find a good second hand one but you don’t ever see them on Astro buy sell uk maybe I should save for longer . In all honesty I haven’t got a mount at the moment I’ve got all the rest of the gear though . I had a eq6 a few years back but sold it and have a lay off for a few years but have come into a bit of money this year so have bought telescope camera etc but want a good mount so I don’t have to upgrade it in a few years time so I’m willing to spend about £8000-£9000 at the moment . Dave
  3. Hi Oddsocks wow what a comprehensive reply just by reading what you have said I’m leaning more towards the 10u I was leaning that way anyway as I think the learning curve for the paramount is very steep whereas not so for the 10u . I have read some of both the forums it seems to me that users seem to have more problems with the paramount than the 10u and the sky x is harder to learn ,also you’ve got to read the manuals thoroughly. cheers Dave
  4. I was thinking the same thing Peds the only thing that I’ve just read funny enough that there is no dedicated software for the 10u and that the 10u users have come up with some software which is really good apparently. My question is now how do you then build a sky model can you do it in Nina for instance ?
  5. At the moment I've got a 80 mm frac so the mount will probably be overkill but I'm definitely going to get a 130 or bigger frac and at sometime a 10/12 inch newt or cass
  6. Hi guys and girls Im thinking of maybe getting a high end mount rather than upgrading in a few years time . I've been reading up on the Paramount MYT and the 10 Micron GM1000 both very good mounts one with absolute encoders but £2000 more the other with motor based encoders, not sure I would need the encoders as the mount would be in a permanent location . The only think I'm worried about is building the tpoint and the 10 micron version, also I would like to use with Nina. So I'm interested what you guys think would be the better and easier to use I would be only using it for astrophotography . I would want to get a bigger scope eventually and have seen there is 7 kg load difference between the two so this might be a consideration thanks Dave
  7. Hi Elp just seen your reply I don’t think they will be doing the 17 might be worth contacting them
  8. Yes Widescreen have got one to demo I spoke to Joseph yesterday apparently they will have them in stock soon
  9. A lot of food for thought I was thinking of getting a mini pc with either 32 or 64 gb ram and at least 2 tb storage with either high end Ryzen processor or intel i7 or i9
  10. I’m just curious to what sort of computer members use for processing images and what their favourite processing software is
  11. Hi guys I’m considering buying a motorised rotator for my rig , I’ve got a starfield gear 80 which has a manual rotator that is attached to the scope does this need to be disconnected to allow the motorised rotator to be added . Sorry if I’m asking really basic questions but I don’t want to make any mistakes especially if it’s going to cost me more money . Anyway clear skies people
  12. Hi guys , does anyone have trouble connecting a Pegasus power box advance gen 2 to Nina the device is on all connected to leads in the right way but all I get in Nina is can’t connect ASCOM driver not recognised or device not set up its really strange as I’ve got other hardware connected to the box which Nina recognises . Also I’ve bought a Giotto and Alto from Primaluce lab and the Giotto connects to Play but the Alto doesn’t I used the same leads to connect both items , so I think the Alto is defective would I be right in that assumption
  13. Even though I have been a member for a while I don’t post much on here , but I love reading through the forums there are quite a few comedians on here . When I have asked for advice or whatever though I have always got positive feedback even if my questions have been basic or silly . I’m in the process off building a rig and trying to save hard to get what I want so hopefully soon will get some images to post on here for critique and advice
  14. Hi Michael no I don’t think it is it says it’s already in play but when I go into Nina it just won’t connect after connecting it to play should I wait for a couple of minutes then connect to Nina or should I just connect to Nina
  15. Hi guys I’ve got a new Primaluce Lab Sesto Senso 2 and I’m having problems connecting to Nina with it on my mini pc . It connects to com port 3 which it has no trouble with in Play but when I go into Nina and connect through that Nina keeps telling can’t connect with com 3 try another port yadda yadda , if I then hit the Ascom pop up at bottom of page it says it connects but obviously doesn’t as all the controls are greyed out . The funny thing is that I connect to my laptop the com port used is 4 and everything connects ok and there are no issues connecting to Nina , any ideas anyone .
  16. I’m using windows 10 pro so will look on utube thanks
  17. Hi guys I’ve bought a mini pc to use with my Astro gear when I eventually get some I have a telescope but no mount yet and I’ve bought a mini pc and Pegasus power box when I try to connect the mini pc to my laptop via Remote Desktop the remote desktop software keeps asking for my Microsoft signin which I’ve just changed because I forgot the password I’ve put the new password but to no avail can anyone help please I’m useless with pc’ s mind
  18. Adam J decided to go with a Astro Gadget Astro pc pro after seeing a review by Cuiv the lazy geek on you tube looks like a nice bit of kit . It's got its own hotspot and has a power hub too so I'll see how that goes , looks easy to set up and control equipment through as you can do that via iPad/tablet or phone
  19. Thanks guys most helpful I must admit you persuaded me to go down the mini pc route has it has open end ability to it I think I would go for the beelink mini pc plus the deep sky dad power hub that way in the future I can run a Pegasus focus cube or maybe another make . I’ve ordered the Starfield 80 mm apo suggested by Adam J so would the Pegasus fit . Also would anyone be able to run me through how you would connect the cables from the mini pc to the deep sky dad and the various components to the power and mini pc , it would the Mount camera guide camera and would the deep sky dad take dew heaters . Sorry for the lots of questions but I’m not really tech savvy lol
  20. If I went for a non ZWO camera and then obviously mini pc route would I not need a Powerbox too of some sort to power all the ancillary equipment
  21. Hi guys I’ve decided to go for the Starfield gear 80 f6 triplet that Adam J recommended so what would be a good CMOS /CCD camera to go with this I was thinking about £1000- £1300
  22. Thanks I’m replying from another user name as I couldn’t get back on with my other account for some reason kept getting kicked out . Adam J I see what you are saying but don’t mind being tied to one company for now as obviously just starting I do like your recommendations though what do you think about the IOptron HAE 29 imate with ipolar that way you can run everything through the Mount via drivers not sure how you power things like cameras etc though I suppose through a power block like the Pegasus Astro power box
