  1. Tried out both Seestars together last night,
  2. I ordered ordered my Seestar from FLO on Monday after they sent me an email I read at 9.0 AM that said they had them in stock, at that point the website said they had 75 in stock, they sold them all before teatime !!!!! . It arrived yesterday Wednesday, fantastic service. I can't wait now to try them both on the same DSO, and different ones at the same time. I only took up this hobby in the middle of Summer, and only now have I realised how few clear nights we actually get here in the north of England. ( 4 in 4 months for me 🙂 Now every hour on a clear sky now will be like having 3 hours of Data to play with ( using my skywatcher as well )
  3. You lost me when I saw the word "parallax" 😄
  4. to be able to do 2 different DSO's at the same time ?
  5. To be able to do 2 different DSO's at the same time ?
  6. I have treated myself to another ZWO SeeStar S50, will try doing the same DSO with both at the same time and stack both sets of fits and see if I get a much better finished image. And I will be able to make the most use of the few clear nights we get oop north in the UK. So, with my 2 SeeStar S50's, and my Sky-Watcher Evostar 72 ED DS should give me a lot of data to play with. ( I'm a lucky boy 🙂 )
  7. FLO have as of this minute 36 ZWO SeeStar S50 in stock, had 75 3 hrs ago !!!
  8. I ordered mine from FLO beginning of Sept, arrived first week in Oct, I don't know the waiting time at the moment but I was very pleased with my delivery time. Hope it arrives quickly for you.
  9. I appreciate all what you're saying, apart from losing me with the open source stuff ( a bit beyond me 🙂 ) I just thought the exposure time was fixed to 10 seconds full stop , I suppose really for what it costs and what it can achieve we should just use it as is and just do the firmware / software updates as and when .
  10. Like you said if it works great if not nothing lost, I did buy a load of kit early on this year and havn't had a chance to use it, I had it setup outside and the cloud came over just as I was about to go imaging, I have learned the asiair software but bought the seestar as it can be set up in minutes and will capture images in between the clouds ( to be fair my asiair will do the same but after a lot of time setting it up. ) The kit I got is this. Sky-Watcher Evostar 72 ED DS with Field flattner, Az-GTI-mount, -Az-GTI-mount wedge, ZWO ASI224MC CAMERA, SVBONY SV 198 guide scope , Canon EOS 600D DSLR Camera with bare sensor conversion, ASIAIR Plus, ZWO Automatic Focuser EAF, ZWO EAF Hand Controller.
  11. I did buy a 2" filter holder off ebay for 7 quid, I remember seeing a post that said the moon was a bit over exposed, I thought the ND filter might be the answer as if it was a bit dark a few stacked images might work , I am a complete novece at this astronomy so excuse my ignorance, I only have a bit of knowledge about photography and a little photoshop, although I am liking Siril the more videos I watch and try things on it with only the one nights data I have collected so far.
  12. I did know it wasn't any good for planets but I thought seeing that it is fixed to 10 second exposures that the ND filter might make it the equivalent to shortening the exposure time for lunar imaging. I've onlu used nd filters on normal photography.
  13. Probably a daft question, but would a variable nd filter make a difference to say lunar / Planet exposures in the same way as a shorter exposure time would ? . I have a 2" filter mount for the seestar.

  15. Got a few hours on Friday night first time using the Seestar ( or any scope for that matter )' I used the built in dew heater and after 1 hr I was down to 70% battery, I plugged in a small powerbank and after around 1 hr it was back to 100%. By the end of the six hrs at 10.45 the Seestar and tripod were dripping wet with moisture, it doesn't seem to have suffered from that. This was my first image, I was really impressed as a newcomer to this hobby how easy it was to get a result straight out of the box as it were.
  16. I am a total newcomer and it was so easy to get a result, I have another scope that I will get out next time as well as the seestar but this is so easy . It's also a go anywhere scope so quick and easy to set up.
  17. Managed to get 6 hours of imaging last light with the Seestar, ( barring the odd cloud ) my first time doing any astronomy. I was really amazed at the fact that the image was easy to find and goto and just appears and keeps getting better all the time !!. I have taken the raw files off the scope and am going to spend today learning how to stack in Siril and autostakkert.
  18. I've seen some great results just with a dslr and a skywatcher AZ-GTI MOUNT with eq wedge like mine and the free ( I think ) Sky Safari software. Really put out that this hobby is so reliant on clear skies, that's why I bought the Seestar so if there is a slightly cloudy sky it will get some images in between them without a load of setting up time.
  19. Cheers, as a complete novice , it will be interesting from my point of veiw to see the difference on a clear night the results from my Skywatcher setup and the seestar. At least now I should get some good results from the Seestar, as that seems totally idiot proof 🙄 but I am looking forward to learning the intricacies of the skywatcher, ASIAir setup, longer exposures , guiding, etc. I never realised there were so few clear sky nights till I took up this hobby !!!! Quick shout out to FLO, ordered my Seestar early Sept, delivered 5 weeks later, great service.👍
  20. Hi, I have a Sky-Watcher Evostar 72 ED DS with a Canon EOS 600D DSLR Camera with bare sensor conversion, I have fitted the ZWO auto focuser on it and the ASIAIR Plus. I have it all set up ready and have sussed out the asiair software, I just haven't had a chance to get any images yet with it but am now ready for the first clear skies that come along . I also took delivery of a SEESTAR S50 a week ago and am looking forward to trying that as well.
  21. Thany you, quite dark in the back garden, can go to the top of the snake pass in 5 mins in car and put the seestar s50 on the roof of the car for a while so quite lucky.
