I haven't owned a Quattro but have upgraded the focuser on several Newtonians and the Baader Steeltrack is great upgrade to the stock focusers supplied with the scopes. They are not quite a Feather touch and don't have the price tag either. However they are a solid and well trusted unit which works very well.
Ok thanks for info, did you have to get a mounting adapter plate with the steelltrack

Sorry all, I've been very sick the last few months or so in hospital undergoing open heart surgery and forgot where I posted this question.
Yes, they are both moving away from earth but in which direction - is Star A moving to the left and Sta B to the right.
If that is correct, how do we know.
Like as been said it depends on your perspective, imagine you are standing out in space with no stars, you know that your feet are down and your head is up but the space around you has no up or down left or right

Hi,
My son's birthday is coming up, and I plan to gift him a new telescope. He currently has a 3d-printed "Hadley" telescope, which has been great fun and learning, but he would like something a bit better and more stable.
We live in a fairly light-polluted area, so it would be nice to have something that is not too hard to transport, but he would probably mostly be using it from our backyard.
I have been looking at telescopes like "Sky-Watcher Skyliner Flextube 250P", "Sky-Watcher Skyliner 200P Flextube SynScan Go-To" and "Celestron StarSense Explorer 10"".
I am not quite sure about how important the go-to features are. He has been spending a bit too much time finding objects compared to observing them with his current telescope, but perhaps that is just due to the instability of the mount? I would guess that would be much better with the Dobsonian mount?
Any recommendations? He is 18 years old.
Cheers,
Rasmus.First thing I would advise is look at the zwo see star 50 and some of the images taken with it. ItΒ might be a good option,it's so easy to use and find lots of DSO.

Yeah there are horror stories, andΒ a 103mm refractor is collimation free , and because of the large secondary with f4 Newtonian a 103mm will have similar light gathering power. But I think a lot of the negative side with this particular scope ( I think I know the one you mean) can be delt with by the upgrades available, particularly the secondary mounting which makes collimation less of a problem. Having said all this I'm ordering the 150 Quattro π€

As Elp said no daylight savings, also the way you enter the date I made the mistake not realizing you had to use USA format.

Generally the numbers will depend on the size of star you're using, the seeing conditions etc.
You should see the numbers falling and at their lowest should be the best focus. Then numbers will start to rise again as the focus goes the other way. Β
Ok thanks for the reply,I'm now getting the hang of it with the helpful people on S G Lπ€

Evening All,
Looking for some advice:
I recently upgraded my camera from a 183M to a 26M. But using the same EFW with 1.25" inch filters. This is with a "wave 80" scope (80mm aperture, f6 with a 0.8x reducer so 384mm focal length)Β
Sensor to filter distance is 28.5mm.
I thought I might get away with it: according to the "CCD Filter Size" on astronomy.tools website which specifies a minimum filter size of 32mm (1.25" = 31.75mm)Β
Attached is the integrated LUM channel and it's corresponding flat. (I might re-do the flats to see if anything has changed, I'm still in the "shake down" phase of the new camera I guess......)
Or maybe it's something else altogether? I haven't attached the heater yet but it wasn't a cold or humid night
.
Opinions welcome, thanks in advance!

Looks like it's vignetteing due to the 1.25 inch filter, that's my opinion other's my have some other explanation π€

So in my infinite wisdom I made a cap with a hole in it to put on the front of my scope. My thinking behind this was Iβd be able to use the little dot of light sort of like an artificial star so I could get my focus tube nice and concentric. But all I succeeded in doing was making a very expensive pinhole camera ππ

Wondering what the focal ratio was if it was on your scope π€

Really unless you are willing to travel to a dark site we are stuck with whatever Bortel we have, whether it's 2 or 8.
