  1. To update the situation, I used a 64gb Micro SD this time to do the backup & it worked! Now with V 1.9.1 installed in my app & was able to install the appropriate firmware with the new O.S. copy. I have since sold my ASIAIR PRO & purchased an ASIAIR Plus 32gb.
  2. Yup your are right on that, I have APK files now from ZWO for V1.9 & V2.1 . Problem is I cant roll back my firmware as something must have malfunctioned or else I just didn't do it right when I copied the SD card 3 years ago. With the Plus I would no longer need to worry about that. Funny I uninstalled my Google Play app version & downloaded directly from ZWO but was still prompted to update until I disabled it from Google Play.
  3. I disabled automatic update for ASIAIR on Google Play App. I have the 2.1 10.47 version right now. Most of the updates mentioned in the new version don't apply to me. I have the ASIAIR PRO & am seriously considering getting one of the plus versions as I am weary of the OS being on an SD card that could crap out at any time. Like the idea of rolling back the firmware on the Plus if in trouble with the press of a button.
  4. Because I use a DSLR for DSO & not a dedicated astro camera I transfer all subs directly to my camera via the Mini USB data cable. It saves me from having to use another USB 3 port to plug in the ASIAIR flash drive.
  5. Thank you for that you tube liink. I bought a ZWO ASI224MC planetary cam for my Stellalyra 6" CC so it's good to know that the 256mb version has the faster frame rate if I plan to uprade in the future.
  6. Yes you are right, it's getting ridiculous. I did not know that there were a few versions of the Plus that The Admiral & yourself have mentioned. I only knew there was a 32gb & a 512gb version.
  7. Well it's no secret that the ASIAIR & the AVX mount have relationship problems. More so than most other mounts. My AVX software is up to date & is a more recent model that uses a USB handset connector rather than a serial port. From what I have read the ASIAIR PLUS & MINI have a more AVX chipset friendly O.S., although I still hear unhappy Plus owners with their AVX. Lets face it astrophotography is expensive & the AVX is at the basement of its category in price & quality (IMO). At this point I am not willing to invest in another mount. The closest spec mount would be the HQ5 mount which is quite a bit more $$$, older technology yet proven reliable. Is it the ASIAIR or the mount, or a bit of both? BTW I use a Vonnets wifi extender with my PRO in station mode which considerably boosts my wifi signal. I have not yet dropped my signal during a session.
  8. Well with all my equipment online I can verify that with V2.1 10.74 that my ASIAIR PRO is talking to my AVX mount (synced) Canon 100d DSLR, ZWO120 guide camera, & ZWO EAF. The real test is getting it out on the field. But this is a positive sign so far. The mount is synced with my tablet coordinates & does a 1 star alignment & returns to home position. Will keep u posted as I proress.
  9. Yes for sure I formatted the new card before I flashed it. The reason for me trying the 64gb card is not to actually get more storage but to make sure that everything That I flashed fully gets on the card. The capacity of a 32gb card is usually slightly less than 32gb. Some less than others. For some strange reason when I flashed the backup yesterday A message told me that I didn't have enough space to fit everything on yet it also said most of the space is blank. The flash was confirmed successful yet my ASIAIR wont display on wifi nor will it beep on startup. The card light blinks for about 4 seconds then stops completely when starting. The 64gb card was an idea from another user.
  10. Yes, I read that, I'm going to b uy a 64gb card & try it again. If it works I can properly roll back to version 1.9.1 & the firmare will update itself to the app. In the meantime I'm back to V2.1 & test it out.
  11. And the Dummy of the Year award goes to 👋. I have ASI app on my phone as well as my tablet, my phone still has the 2.1 version. The reason I kept saying that nothing on the app worked when I got to the workload area is when the app is new it forces you to check out all the features and you have to acknowledge them by pressing the "got it" button. I thought the app simply didnt work. So after pressing it about 6 times the screen unlocked and became fully functional. It took me 2 days to figure that out! So now I will hook up my mount and all my other equipment to see if everything talks as it should & will report back later today. I may still find annoying bugs with this new version so we shall see.
  12. Ahhh, that reset button feature only works on the ASIAIR Plus or Mini. With the Pro u have reset the firmware to it's original version by backing up it's SD card when it is new so you have a spare os to work with. My backup didn't seem to work as planned. Thats what I'm rambling on about lol.
  13. I just downloaded the V1.9.1 APK file that Bonzer2u had posted. When I opened it & connected to the ASIAIR PRO It stated that the app & the firmware 10.74 were not compatable and wanted me to upgrade the app. I was able to choose not now. So now I have to figure out why my original firmware copy is not working. I used win32 image reader to make the backup 3 years ago. I used a brand new 32gb card to make the copy yesterday. I did get a message saying there was not enough space in the card for the file but also said it appears that most of the space is blank & win32 confirmed it copied successfully. Wonder if I should try it again with a 64gb card just in case something was missed?
  14. Yes I am trying to find a 1.9 version in an APK file. They are out there but the websites want you to use their own installers which I am wary of. The original OS that I copied to a new SD card doesn't seem to work on my ASIAIR PRO. It does not show up in the wifi availability on my Android tablet or phone before I even connect to the ASIAIR app. My lastest upgrade to V2.1 worked fine for almost a year until the firmware update happened yesterday to 10.47. I can connect to the app ok but the app buttons do not function when I get into the main frame. The app no longer talks to my AVX mount either anymore. I am considering buying a used ASIAIR Plus thats for sale but wary of similar problems.
  15. Although I restored the original firmware of the asiair os I am still using V2.1 for the app. I dont know how to or if I can roll the app version back to when I first got it in 2022. I figured the app would prompt me to upgrade the firmware again & it would hopefully work this time. I know that with the Plus you can roll back right from the app because the Plus doesnt require the SD card for OS like the Pro does.
  16. Thank you saac, I prefer the idea of using a mini raspberry device over hauling my computer outside with all the extra wires especially in the climate where I live. I hope the thing isnt just fried.
  17. Worth a try I suppose, however I still need the app to actually function. I t does connect & take me to the equipment page with time & date settings.. Once you are on the main page nothing works.
  18. I just turned on my ASIAIR Pro after being idle many months V2.1 app version and it prompted me to upgrade the firmware to 10.74 which I did. I use an AVX mount with the ASIAIR (big mistake) and after a year of hit & miss, thanks to Astroblender on youtube with his Celestron mount & Asiair tutorial for getting them to sync I was finally off to the races. After yesterday's firmware update to 10.74 my ASIAIR app buttons do not function at all, nor does it talk to my Celestron AVX mount anymore. I made a backup file in 2022 for the ASIAIR OS and tried to restore it. With the original backup firmware installed the ASIAIR app does not aknowledge the ASIAIR as an internet option to connect. Just wondered if anyone else has had this problem with the latest firmware release. To buy an ASIAIR Plus I am not confident that I wont be without similar problems.
  19. My $45.00 Can. solution. I had an ADM vixen style camera mount that I was no longer using. Bought 3 Small Rigg 200gram counterweights from Amazon that happened to screw into the camera mount. I can slide it up & down the rail, works perfectly for the setup that you see here.
  20. I share the W.O. 2" diagonal with my TS Optics Photoline 102 refractor, yes it's a nice piece of equipment. Maybe either the Baader counterweight that you have or the ADM version that is considerably less expensive.
  21. That sure is a nice little gadget, & yes pricey too. I think my main culprit is my W.O. 2 diagonal. It weighs 1.01 lbs. So I think my solution for better balancing is either a dovetail counterweight or a light 1.25 diagonal.
  22. I just received a Stellalyra 6" CC a few days ago. It's mounted on my Celestron AVX. I am using the 2" extension ring included before the focuser, a 2" William Optics dielectric diagonal & a Svbony 191 7.2 -21 zoom eyepiece. For balancing the RA is no problem. But declination, man it's bottom heavy! My ADM saddle is locked at the very back of the scopes vixen dovetail. I took the eyepiece out & it's still bottom heavy. I knew this scope had a reputation for that but looking in photos of fellow owners with similar setups I did not see any front mounted counterweights installed. It seems to me that I need some sort of weight in the front, had anyone else found this?
  23. A Stellalyra 6" CC, my new Planet Killer to compliment my TS Optics 102 APO. Both use my Celestron AVX mount.
  24. I already have a Celestron AVX mount that my TS Optics Photoline APO sits on in all its Glory. I bought it with visual & imaging of nebulas, closer galaxies, star clusters etc. However I really like observing the planets too, & eventually would like to image them. My 102 APO is just to large FOV to do this comfortably. I have researched 150 MAKS, 6" Classic Cassegrains & 8 SCT's. All 3 similar weight . I have had an 8 SCT before from the mid 90's a Celestron Ultima 8 PEC. I liked it but never loved it, always found Jupiter & Saturn lacking enough contrast to keep me happy. The Stellalyra 6" CC seems like a viable option. I did read a review where it was mounted on an AVX and at medium to high power it was a bit jumpy. Not sure if the reviewer meant visual or imaging. This would be just for planetary & lunar. Has anyone else used this combination? Being bottom heavy I wonder if it will balance ok, I do have an extra counterweight for the mount but would not want to add anything to the front of the scope if possible.
  25. You are so right. When the scope arrived since I don't have a case yet (but is on order) I felt the safest place was on my mount, & then I added everything else to get the promo shot, except the counterweight & shaft lol in all my excitement. I added it on the next day when I realized something was missing lol.
