  1. Neil, could I also ask where you sourced the tube rings ? I have original swift ones but they’re rather old and worn. Yours look perfect and I may get a set ! Thanks Justin
  2. Great photo - they are indeed fantastic telescopes. I have a question as I’m trying to service the focuser on mine…. The teeth of the focus thumb wheel (which had to be removed) are (were) covered in a thick ‘tacky’ grease - this provides a little lubrication but also some friction. Any ideas on a replacement brand / type of grease ? Thanks Justin
  3. Great, thanks. I presume a pillar is considered more stable than just a larger tripod ? I see that Berlebach make taller tripods (than the planet) - but I assume the further the extension of the legs the more the vibration ?
  4. Hi all, I have recently had to take apart a Swift 831 focuser because of damage. I’m in a position now to put it back together……. However, could anyone please recommend a grease to apply to the teeth of the adjustment arm? The grease that was there was ‘tacky’ which gave some stability and stiffness to the focuser, so I’m trying to find the best possible options for grease that’s almost solid and ‘tacky / sticky’ . Any help much appreciated. cheers justin
  5. Hi all, Interesting following your progress. Quick question with regards to pillars. Am I correct in saying that if mounted on a Berlebach Planet then a pillar is required for certain high elevation viewing ? Thanks Justin
  6. Hi gents thank you both very much for taking the time to respond. I have to say it’s an absolute match to the Asahi - I have checked and re checked the photos a few times. Incidentally that’s the exact suggestion from another forum that I asked the question on. Roy - yes it’s an all metal tube. regards Justin
  7. Hello All, Wondering if anyone could shed a little light on the history or original brand for my 60mm Limer Refractor. Made in Japan, produces good views of the plants and moon - given its limited lens. I am trying to find out a little more about it’s heritage and background. Should anyone have one or know more I’d be very keen to hear. I have also raised this topic on another forum but hope that this may reach a few more enthusiasts. regards Justin
