  1. Hello @johnturley I have compared my TSA102 to my FS128 on the planets and the FS shows more detail, I would expect a similar outcome with your ES127. I had very specific reasons for buying the relatively light 100DZ, my expectation is that visually it will match the in focus views of the TSA - we shall see.......
  2. He was one of the great observers and high resolution photographers of the 20th and 21th century. He became 100 years old this year and passed away on August 26.
  3. Thanks Chris, I had a very brief look through it last night but there was a lot of moisture and thin clouds in the sky. Looking forward to a night with better conditions.....
  4. And a possible fixed focal length eyepiece option..... https://www.firstlightoptics.com/pentax/pentax-xw-14mm.html Gives x193 in your scope - perfect for Saturn and Jupiter. Also the 12mm Pentax XF might be worth considering... https://www.firstlightoptics.com/pentax/PentaxXF12.html
  5. Hello Alex, Here is some more reading about zooms for you.... https://www.cloudynights.com/topic/616856-best-zoom-eyepieceso/
  6. Thank you Gerry 👍 Nothing like your collection though 🙂
  7. Yes, I will have a party all by myself 🥴 although I think I already know the visual outcome. The DZ sits very well on the GP and i’m looking forward to testing the optics - although I can only go up to x384. It’s a birthday present - which is in October so really I should put it away until then.......
  8. Hello Dave, 1. Who is MikeDnight ? 😂😂😂 2. No, the FS128 is staying, this as you say is a g&g option 3. Sorry - that would have given great views but two f/8 scopes would have given f/16 🤪so you would have had to change your forum name - which should really be f/8.125 now 😱
  9. Managed a quick look at the Moon at 6pm last night, sky still bright so not ideal - at x216 it was very sharp. it’s noticeably lighter than my current 4” scope which is the main reason I bought it, the Vixen GP holds it very well. Had to change the excellent Tak finder for a RACI finder as my back finds it more comfortable. just need a decent night now........
  10. Ta da ...... And as the FLO sticker said - clouds really were inside 😂
  11. I use a leica ASPH 8.9 - 17.8 which is just as sharp as my Pentax XW’s
  12. Hi Alex, Another option perhaps would be to save your pennies for a high end zoom ?
  13. Great images @Bloom you caught the great red spot and the new bright spot very well 👍
  14. An 8.5” F/8 is a very long scope but should have a small secondary so may be great on the planets. Perhaps you can go take a look to see if you are ok with it’s length ? The Skyliner 200P is a very capable and easy to handle scope, I had one and it was VERY sharp, sadly a bad back forced it’s sale 🙁
  15. You may want to try Reflectix first - it’s only £15
