heritage collimation woes

Hi,all been trying to collimate the heritage 130p what a night mare, i bought a cheshire collimator!, i used it other day to collimate the scope but....... few things you need to be aware of with a cheshire, 1. there`s a lot of play in the tube when put in the eye piece slot few turns of sellotape soon sorted that out has someone else had the same problem on here. 2 you need it a fair way out to centre the secondary mirror so you can see the mirror mount. 3 when you put it fully down to stop end there is a bit of play in it, some more tape on it to get a good snug fit. any way i used astro babes guide, got the secondary nice and round though collimator, but trying to get all three mirror clips in view was a right pain, only managed two!? any way centred the main mirror thinking that was easy...... until i stood back and looked at scope THE TELESCOPIC SLIDERS WERE 1 TO 2 INCHES DOWN not fully locked out!! what an idiot!! a few choice swear words were said, Had to start again! good job because i noticed the spider leg, only one on this tube was slightly twisted , had to undo the 8 mm nut at top of bar and straighten it up flush with face of tube. Any way i think i have done it right this time after 3 attempts. We shall see on the star test tonight weather permitting. Yours paul.

Hi, Isabelle hope you are well, yeah it was a bit of a pain, not had chance to test it yet, been bad cloud cover here again most of week, don`t make the mistake i did and not slide the telescope truss out fully!! ha ha. have you been out obs much? I have just ordered a philips sc900nc web cam kit with adapter and IR lens, £38, going to have another go at imaging, if the cloud clears. yours paul.

I haven't gone out lately since I am waiting for my eyesight to recover. I should see some changes this week (at least I hope so).
