Finding Vesta in October

Vesta now just past opposition. Bright at mag. +6.4 and was easy with my 10x50s

Nice one. I spotted Vesta a couple of nights ago. It was a convoluted chase through washed out skies in a part of the sky I don't know well. I'm astonished that humble binoculars can pick out asteroids!

Definitaly one for the early risers! I'm assuming that it will appear as a point of light even at high mag? So I guess it is the game of "spot the star which isn't on the map".

In 10x50 it was a point of light. Can't comment on anything beyond 10x mag! I saw it around 11pm BST from the UK, and it was well placed at that time. Sky Safari on iPhone was a huge help in locating it rather than searching for the "extra" object not on the paper map. Good luck!
