Entering coordinates into Synscan handset

Hi all can some one please help when i am setting my eq5 synscan goto up it asked me to but in my longditude and latitude BUT the lcd screen says that longditude is e/w and latitude is n/s i can change the settings but only to w/e longditude and s/n latitude  this needs to be the outher way round longditude N/S and latitude E/W  is there a way to change this getting very frustrated

my longditude is 51.27.20 latitude 0.52 90 maidstone kent england kind regards steve (astrobudd)

Your getting tangled up I think.

Latitude is your distance north or south of the equator in degrees.

Longitude is your distance east or west from the Greenwich Meridian in degrees.

Your latitude looks about right at 51.27 north and longitude figure will be east as you are east of Greenwich.

The coordinates for the centre of Maidstone are 000 31 E  51 16 N .  Enter the coordinates into the handset in that format and order . The coordinates need to be in degrees and minutes , not decimals .
