Starwave 50mm guider/finder?

Recommended Posts

I'm just getting to grips with a (new to me) Lodestar guide camera. I want to use it with a 9 x 50 mm finder/guider I recently bought second hand. The finder/guider has a T2 adaptor on the back. However, the Lodestar won't come to focus at a position where my current T2 to 1.25" adaptor will grip the camera satisfactorily, so I need a new 1.25" to T2 adaptor.

An alternative to might be to just upgrade the whole finder.

Has anyone tried out the Starwave 50mm finder/guider?

Thanks

It all depends on how confident you are at adapting (second hand) optics. I just built a finderguider from a second hand QHY5, a Meade 8*50 finder and beaten up 2" to 1.25" adapter (and tape to fill the gap) from astroboot and some aluminium tubing and bar from ebay. I did end up having to chop about 9mm off the Meade finder to make the focal plane meet the QHY chip, but it works a treat.

TOTAL COST < £150 :)

It works so well, in fact, that I have now found a mechanical problem with my mount! lol.
