Can any one help with some with some quick notes or a scan on the manual so i can play with my new toy.

The owner passed away so i need somes help.

The LX5 appears to relate to the control box and other electronics, order was LX3(1985), LX5(1987), LX6(1988).

The LX5 having stepper motors that allowed use in the southern hemisphere (well that is how it reads at a quick glance)

Looks like the LX6 came in 1988 and added a microprocessor into the electronics (those things will never catch on    )

Seems that others have asked for an LX5 manual variant and cannot locate anyone that has found one/it.

Full "name" appears to be "Meade 2080 LX5"

Nothing on the Meade support, nor on Meade4M.com

This is the manula for the scope:

http://www.cise.ufl.edu/~jnw/meade2080-2120manual.pdf

BUT it does not have the LX5 controller, only the earlier LX3, and there is not much mention of that either, Page 68 area.

Guess they made the LX3 scopes with manual, updated the controller to LX5 but no real manual and then produced the LX6 and thought they had better created a new manual. So the LX5 manual is now rare, especially on the met.

The LX6 handcontroller had provision to include a DSC (Digital Setting Circle) display in the top section.

I had a 10" LX6 for a few years and added the clunky DSC set up - belt drives and encoders....

Your image shows sockets for the CAT and encoder accessories, so I think you have a LX6.

I hope you have the handbox ("Command Center") for it as they are very difficult to find.

Without the handbox it will still track in RA.

LX5 seem rare, can see LX3 mentioned a few times and on a book marked  link to "old" manuals I can find an LX6.

This is the LX6 one:

The control box looks like your pic, the logo is different.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.

I pluged the cables in this evening and if focus on a street lamp. Very clear. I was set to star rate but i could not control the direction or speed so i can now read the manuals and learn what i can do with the controls.

Thanks again.
