Lifecam Question

All works fine,but I've noticed what I assume is dust specs on the sensor which are quite noticeable when the cam is out of focus on a subject.

I've tried using a lens blower but nothing seems to budge, there is however a clear film over the sensor. Is it possible to remove this with no adverse effects?

I Bought a CCD cleaning kit from eBay which has 6 swabs on, cleaned IP the sensor on my webcam fine. Just be gentle and drag left to right

I might have to get some. 

Any idea what the clear film over the sensor is on this webcam? I've seen a few people mention it but never the result of taking it off.
