Eqmod and Celestron

Is there wheels in motion to get Eqmod and Celestron mounts married?

I have a CG5-GT Mount, and I'm sure I read at sometime or other, that plans were in motion to control them via Eqmod, as with The EQ Pro. mounts. Or, have I dreamt this.?

No you didin't dream it. Someone was apparently looking at it quite seriously around six months or so ago. Haven't heard a dickie since then though so I assume progress has been slow - if there's been any at all.

With the eq6 now permanent in the obsy I've been thinking of a heq5 syntrek for portable imaging but now tempted by the reduced CG-5 GT 's

This thread seems to be implying that when you use PC Direct mode on the hard controller you can use EQMOD to control your mount. Maybe I am misreading it ... Although it seems you still need to go via the controller, unlike with the EQMOD direct gizmo for the Skywatcher mounts.

EQMOD only talks "synta" protocol and consequently can only be used either via a direct connection to a synscan/syntrek mount or via a synscan handcontroller operating in its special PC-Direct mode.

EQMOD does not work celestron mounts.
