Big Dipper... is this real?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am new here and new to digital imaging.

My friend lent me a little compact Lumix camera the other night and I piggy-backed it onto my telescope, which has a RA drive.

I found a 'starry night' setting on the camera (60 second exposure). I messed around with the result in Photoshop (mostly using levels) and this is what I got (before and after shown).... there is some noise (bottom left), but can all this information really be embedded in such a 'light polluted, single frame, 60 second exposure'???!!! :):p
