Combining CLS clip with H-a filter... Necessary or wrong??

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone...

I just recently bought an Astronomik H-a filter. I havent tried to image with it yet but i had a question...

Since i live in a heavily light polluted area, will i still need to use my cls clip on my canon while image with my new H-a filter???

Or will the H-a filter take care of itself???

Do the same rules apply for O-III? What about RGB exposures?

Thanks to everyone in advance :hello2:

If using a narrowband filter, the CLS is not needed & may absorb a significant amount of the light you're wanting to record. (Depending on the wavelength, of course. CLS is fairly transparent to Ha.)

If using RGB colour seperation filters, you will benefit from the CLS filter.
