Filters, filters, filters.

Recommended Posts

I know this has been asked many times before. However I am still at a lose as to which filters I need.

I recently modded a lifecam for planetary use and I am wondering what kind of IR filter I need for the camera.

The same goes for the canon 1000d, as I have read that when you remove the IR filter in the camera that it makes images slightly fuzzy (or stars slightly blotted).

If anybody has some recommendations for both cameras that would be great.

Thanks in advance.

What about one of the Baader UVIR filter or their new Neodymium with UVIR cut.

I think the reason why un-filtered DSLR become fuzzy is because of chromatic aberration with IR light. A standard APO only bring the visible spectrum to one point, only super apo corrects for IR as well. An IR filter will remove this unfocused IR light and make the image sharper.
