GiGiWxCapture: to make a rapid and precise polar alignment

Hi!

I wrote a GNU GPL software for polar alignment by bigourdan (but has some other features like autoguiding, FWHM measure, field calculation, zoom). Its particularity is that works with every CCD with liveview possibility.

Since it's written in Python, you need to install Python and wxpython before using it. However you will find related links on my webpage.

To start the program, just unzip, double-click on GiGiWxCapture.py (GiGiWxCapture.pyw for windows users who don't like console) and start your CCD liveview software.

did anybody have the opportunity to test it or it's always cloudy as here in Italy, these days?

Haven't tried this, but i surly will when i Do get a CCD one day, and darker skies (too bright now, have to wait untill the fall).

Hi Jannis! If you have liveview on PC for your Canon and you need better polar alignment, you can use GiGiWxCapture also with it. I've just uploaded a new version that should work better with Windows.
