Astroimaging equipment advice

Recommended Posts

I have an EQ5 SynScan and currently use a Nexstar 5SE on it. I want to get a scope that will give me better definition for imaging, what would be the best I could use on this mount? Wondering about the Skywatcher Equinox APO series?

Any thoughts much appreciated.

An ED80 is a good starting point. However, you will be better off spending money upgrading the mount, most people consider a HEQ5 to be the minimum requirement for astrophotography.

Since your already have Synscan on your EQ5, a cheaper alternative is to find a GPDX/D2 head on the used market and retrofit your SynScan to it.
