Yes. I use fast f5 guidescopes and will never opt for anything slower now I have seen the benefits. When your mount is having an off day it may like rapid corrections, every half second, even, and with a fast f ratio you can do that. Also you will always find a star and hanging onto it in passing cloud needs a fast f ratio as well. The idea that you need a fair proportion of the imaging scope's focal length for guiding predates modern autoguiders.
