Canon Settings and Procedures Help Please

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone. I'm new to astrophotography.

I just finished getting most of my equipment together for a good start. I just bought a canon LP clip, a meade OAG and a LVI2 to help with longer exposures :)

But for my canon camera, what are the best settings for some good photos in my HEAVILY light polluted skies? ISO 800? 1600?

And what are the limits of my dslr exposures before the noise, or image quality gets too deteriorated? 1 minute? 2 minutes? 5 minutes????

I know that good Deep Sky images sometimes take hours of exposes to get great results....What are the best sub times for a dslr????

Any other tips for a noob would greatly be appreciated :p

Thank you all for your time.
