Making a Dobsonian mount

I am contemplating making a Dobsonian mount with a housing to accomodate my 5" Celestron,currently wobbling about on it's cheap GEM.Any suggestions,feasibility studies?

It's a good book with a lot of good reading.

Also software, such as google sketchup, can be very usefull when it comes to designing it. I just made mine as I went along, and it worked out ok, but I would've saved a lot of time and effort if I'd have planned it properly first.
