Changing my mount

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I have a Skywatcher skyliner150 which is a long dobsonian scope which is great for viewing but annoying to keep anything in view...am thinking of a new mount maybe an EQ5 but wondered if the EQ3-2 is too lightweight (would be less money, but is it solid enough?)

Also, anyone in Suffolk? I'm in a small village outside Stowmarket, very dark here, no street lights ... it's great!

Steve

A CG5 is a little more heavy duty than an EQ5 (2" steel tube tripod legs) and would handle a 6" F/8 optical tube OK for visual observing.

To get the real benefit you will need at least an RA drive I would think so factor that into your calculations.
