Ngc 2024 with horse

I can't seem to get any colour out of this, feeling a tad frustrated......to say the least.

27 subs 60 sec and 22 subs 120sec flats,dark,bias taken over 2 nights and stacked in dss, DSLR Nikon D90. please advise if you can it will be appreciated so much.

I spent a while on this, did get some colour but at the expense of posterisation and a lot of noise. Needs longer exposures, the Flame is not that bright!

As being quite new to this, how long should exposures be to gain more light in flame.

as have no guide system so probably limited a bit.

Quite nice. It's rather dim, but nice.

Was this taken with an unmodded camera?

Wanted to try this object this weekend, but unsure if my 550D will be able to capture it at all as it's unmodded and most of the light from this is blocked out by the integrated filter. Kind of good to see what is captured by 2 min subs, tells me that i need to get my guiding going well before i start as it seems that it's not long enough with 2 min subs?

personally I would aim for 5-10 minute subs using an STL 11000 at f8.

Jannis this was taken with unmodded d90.

I can just manage 3min subs unguided.

Think I will try this one later when I've gained a bit more experience.
