mason
i am looking for an all round scope, for imaing planets and deep sky. i know the skywatcher 190mn is great on deep sky, but what is it like on solar system objects and would it beat the skymax 180 pro on planets? Deneb
You can't compare them, both different Beasts or buy both, the focal length of the Skymax 180 is more suited for lunar & planetary work.Nadeem
mason
thats what i thought, was thinking of a skymax 180 for lunar/planets and a evostar 80 for the deep sky stuff. the 190mn would be around the same price as both scopes so was wondering if i should just get that! Deneb
the evostar ed80 is a ideal scope for dso imaging & used by many. If I was stuck in the same dilema then I would go for the skymax & the ed80.Nadeem.
mason
i think i will do that then. be nice to own two scopes rather than one all rounder andalthough i have an eq 6 mount, the evostar with a small guidescope would be lighter than the 190mn with a guidescope. RobH
Use a good quality barlow or powermate with the MN190 for lunatr and planetary work and you'll have a scope that can do both. The MN190 will beat the 80mm evostar hands down on DSO's....not knocking the evostar, which is a good scope, but if you want to shoot galaxies for example, the 80mm doesn't have a long enough FL.That's what I'd do for sure.Rob
