So I want a second 2" eyepiece

My telescope came with a 28mm DeepView eyepiece and love it. My only problem is, the view is nice, but I don't get any magnification to show any real detail in objects, I've been considering a 17mm 2" eyepiece since that is one that I use quite frequently and was wondering just what the difference in views would be? Would it be worth investing in another 2"?

Hello,

A 17mm 2" eyepiece will give the same view as a 1.25" 17mm. what matters is the field of view on the eyepiece. there is a max fov possible with a 1.25" eyepiece, 32mm 52degree or 24mm 68 degree is the maximum fov on 1.25" anything less that those will be the same as a 1.25" eyepiece.

The 17mm Nagler and 17mm Ethos eyepieces need to be 2" format to give their 82 degree and 100 degree apparent fields of view. For fields of view less than that the 1.25" format is just fine.
