Vixen Plossls

I already posted this in the equipment section so apologies if you have already seen it but I wondered if I would get more response here. Maybe from fellow newbie/Mak owners.

I know there are lots of threads on here about Plossls but I am seriously considering going for an 8mm Vixen for my Mak.

At the moment I cannot really afford much so the Vixen prices look like a good choice. I have seen one or two recommendations for them here.

I was thinking that the 8mm would be a much better choice than my Skywatcher supplied 10mm for planetary work. This would give me a mag of x187.5 but would it be pushing it to try a 6mm and hope for x250. The spec implies x254 is the highest practical so that's getting quite close.

Any help and experience with Vixen and the Skywatcher Maks would be much appreciated.

Can nobody help me with their experience of Vixen eyepieces?

Are you talking about the Vixen NPL eyepieces:

Vixen - Vixen NPL eyepieces

If so I believe they are pretty good. They would certainly work well in a mak - most eyepieces work well in slow scopes like maks.

Yes I was thinking about the NPL's. Last night I was using the SW 10mm on Saturn and it was decidely average which, as you have pointed out before, is often the case with supplied EP's.
